VBA is not as good as mGBA.
That is not enough to convince me, (and for sure many others) to move everything to the not-that-easy-to-mount Retroarch kit....

Then your thread is fallacious and should be renamed to not Ultimate since Retroarch on Wii U has more emulators than on Wii. Arcade emulation for one is way better on Wii U. Then you'll need the retroarch app from wiiu/apps/retroarch. You'll have one single Retroarch app in Homebrew Launcher and can load other cores from retroarch's menu by choosing "Load core"

Thanks for the guide. I agree with a lot you have to say, but I also think you should reconsider the retroarchs Wii U port. It's really not that hard to setup. I know the guides on GBAtemp are pretty daunting but start with the WiiU reddit guide titled "[Tutorial] How to use the latest RetroArch on Wii U" and as you get more comfortable with it you can try configuring some of the more advanced features on the gbatemp guides. In 2018 there is no reason to make your Wii U reboot to emulate anything but N64. It's got a beautiful UI, decent post processing, gamepad support, and many more emulators built in than what is available on vWii.
EDIT: It just came to my attention the reddit guide may be based on a GBATemp thread (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-use-the-latest-retroarch-on-wii-u.482270/). I personally prefer the "traditional" setup where one homebrew app can load any rom from any "installed" core.
Instead of placing individual apps in wiiu/apps/ you would just place the main retroarch app located in that same folder
Eh. We're not shy about our love for piracy on here. The site is largely about the technical aspects of piracy, and this fits the bill. This whole post is more like the ultimate piracy setup, with more games than you'd ever actually play. Once you see a user with hundreds of GB of content, you know for sure that it isn't backups. Gbatemp isn't really the place for that, it's not an iso site.
Thanks for your answer and your help! If I would like to play to other platforms, I would totally think in Retroarch, but I actually don’t want to play to anymore consoles, but the ones I have done the setup for (Nintendo ones)
But I insist, in which specifically is the Retroarch emulation better compared to the Gx N64, SNES, GBA and NES emulators? And it is not fair enough just saying the framerate stuff without any proof
I use retroarch for Nintendo emulators only. The great thing about homebrew is that you can choose what software YOU want to run on YOUR system. Most gbatemp users here rarely see people return to the GX emulators once they give Retroarch WiiU a shot and I think thats why you are getting a number of encouraging/surprised responses.
Unfortunately, I know zero about the technical side of system/game emulation, but it was an easy switch for me for convenience most of all. Perhaps somebody like @the_randomizer could elaborate on the technical side of advancements made to Nintendo system emulation since the GX emulators.

RetroArch on Wii U can take advantage of the XMB menu/interface, making a sleek, smooth experience. Emulators on Wii U also don't suffer the frameskip or stuttering the GX emulators did on Wii. Games run smoother, cleaner, and I just recommend RA over anything GX related.
I see.... So basically, it is some kind of a fashion thing in terms of "look" isn't it? Due to the lack of technical reason assumption that people has?

Hello The_Randomizer,
Let me tell you, that for me, and I think that for any person who might read this thread, the fact that many of the people from this forum prefer RA over GX. But, these reasons you have aported, that I have summarized below, dont really tell me anything nor convince me at all:
I really appreciate your input, but without a video showing a clear difference, or a technical demonstration, those reasons are useless...
- take advantage of the XMB menu/interface,
- don't suffer the frameskip or stuttering the GX emulators did on Wii
- Games run smoother, cleaner
Best regards
What's wrong with using the word fallacious in this case? It embodies a fallacy, no matter the intentFallacious? Seriously whats the matter with your education guys?
Most of what you're getting feedback on is because of the post title. When you need to change a post title, click the message tools drop down at the bottom of your first post in the thread (the OP) and Report the post. In the box, explain that you need the title changed due to feedback, and provide a better title.because the first post has a easy to see disclaimer (the title is not editable by me)
There are several videos on Youtube demonstrating how Retroarch runs on the Wii U.I see.... So basically, it is some kind of a fashion thing in terms of "look" isn't it? Due to the lack of technical reason assumption that people has?

I dont have any, but Im sure ploggy has quite a few on his channel, and I know there are other users on Youtube who has some.
Let me search for them, and I'll get back.
But really the main thing that should make you change from the GX emus over to RA on Wii U is performance.
Snes games that rely on special chips no longer stutter nor have frameskipping, the overall gameplay is way more smooth and consistant, you can even use an overclock option to play the games as if the Snes console were overclocked, which many special games benefit from, and that's not to mention other consoles as well.
All of the GX emus have some sort of frameskipping, and believe me, once you compare lets say VBAGX against mGBA on RetroArch Wii U for yourself, you'll know why instantly.
Simply try Golden Sun 2, you'll notice it right away.
Keyword, "User Error". As in people that don't read the entire guide, and just skim through it or skip every thing to get to the install instructions.Haxchi is plenty, and some people brick their Wii us using CBHC due to user error.
Cios is buggier in reguards that it messes with Wii games launching alot. Sure it allows you use more USB devices, but it makes more errors. I'll link some threads about it later.

If your to lazy to read a full guide on Wii U modding, including the Do's and Dont's, then you deserve a brick. Lazy people shouldn't be anywhere near the modding community. If you are lazy, your just asking for a Brick. If you look at all the bricked Wii U consoles, every one of them was a user error, also known as "To lazy to read".
You should read the guide over and over and over again, how ever many times it takes for you to understand exactly what your about to do to your console before you even start modding, and the risks that are involved. If you still don't understand, then ask someone on the forum, that's why we have a forum in the first place.
Many people install CBHC and they even have kids that play on thier Wii U every day. So if CBHC can work for them, it can work for anyone.
If you look at Kafluke's Guide to WiiU Hacking, he states the Do's and Don'ts multiple times. There is no excuse for a CBHC brick, unless it wasn't a user error, and maybe just a system corruption or hardware failure or something like that. And even then he makes sure to tell you to back up your nand before anything else.
Nice. Just replace the bottom row (apart from N64) with Retroarch and you’ll be goldenNew app:
