I think most people getting into the rooting scene would prefer Magisk, given it's ease of use. I'm still using SuperSU on most of my devices, but Magisk is definitely easier in my opinion.

Out of the box it only works with things that use SafetyNet, I don't know if the Nintendo apps do, but it has a blacklist you can add other apps to in order to hide root from apps that use other methods.
Oh fancy

I might give that a go, then. I guess it wouldn't be a HUGE loss if I couldn't play Super Mario Run anymore :P

Magisk has the ability to hide your root from apps like pokemon go and hide your android from safey net making your phone systemless, while super su has functions with certant root apps i think.

It worked, though?
I used to find myself having to update my root method every time I wanted to play Pokemon Go (which isn't very often) due to Google changing things in SafetyNet all the time breaking the old methods, but nowadays with Magisk they have almost given up on trying to detect root so it rarely needs updating. There was one time last summer or autumn where they started detecting some parameters set by Magisk, but that was quickly sorted out in an update. Non-SafetyNet root detection is far less sophisticated, for that you don't even really need Magisk but it's probably the easiest way these days.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
