I would assume so. firmware spoofing was a thing on the 3DS, so I don't see any reason why it won't pop up on the switch.

No ! I really don't want online with "hack game"
-> don't want to see cheater on online game !
Me neither, but I'm always in favour of single player moding\cheating or a bit of coop small things that won't affect other players gaming.

But it's probably inevitable online cheating... I hope they get banned.

If you look at past consoles with CFW, generally online will work, but with the caveat that you risk getting banned. If online becomes particularly popular for certain games, I wouldn't be surprised to see most people with modded consoles to pick up a second non-modded one. That's probably the route I'll go.

Judging by Nintendo's current attitude towards keeping the modding scene under control, I'd be willing to bet that they'll attempt to keep modded consoles from properly accessing the online service without a ban.

The 3ds never had the need to use spoofing, since even in the cakes+emunand days you could update your emunand keeping CFW. The system was always in the latest update.

I hope so but given We're going into the Switch pay to play era this year well who knows.

This is the main stopper, since you guys wouldn't pay for online with pirated games would you? would you?!

It's possible, we're talking about Nintendo they sure are not the best at security.

Also with the online subscription it can be the only way to take some money from pirates, so maybe a smart option will be to ban only cheaters that ruins the game to everybody but keep the pirates and take at least the money of the subscription from them. Also we're not talking about Xbox and ps4 where the service is actually good and without the online the console is dead so I doubt a lot of people will buy a new Switch for online only.

Team Xecuter stated they're not sure about it though.

I would pay for online still for two reasons.

1. I have a lot of Switch Games both physical/digital.

2. If I remember correctly its just $20 for a full year of Switch Pay to play unlike the $60 for ps+ for example.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
