Would you eat a human?

Even in a situation where I had little to no food, eating a human would actually still be something I couldn't do. Humans are still mammals, which I am extremely allergic to any meat from any mammal. It makes me extremely sick when I do eat it. So in a given situation where human is the only remaining food, I would not be able to eat it because it wouldn't last long inside of me to gain any benefits from, as well the other side effects would dehydrate me.

Yup, it was caused by the lone star tick. I was bit on the shoulder as a child and I've never been able to touch meat since then. It's quite the unpleasant and painful experience if I do eat meat.

Skinned, gutted, and quatered I could turn a person in to all sorts of food. Cook it to at least 180 degrees and dig in. Just don't eat any organ meat or the brain. If the human was dead and not rotting and I had no clue who they were, I'd probably eat them if I can find a way to cook them. I wouldn't eat all of them, maybe just sever an arm or a leg and eat that. I have no intention of eating somebody I know or have seen before, that...isn't right.

I'd leave an IOU though if I happen to..."borrow"...their arm or leg though.

Yes, of course. If I were in some situation where I can't access any other food, I am starving with high probability of death, and I only have dead human to eat, I would eat dead human no second thought. Easy question. Next.

Yeah, no doubt about it. Though it would be gross and it will most certainly lead to PTSD, but I prefer to live with PTSD than to die without it. Though I hope the rescuers would arrive sooner. But if I was one of those Uruguayans stranded for weeks in the middle of that world's second highest mountain range after their plane crashed back in the 70s, I would do the same.

As others mentioned it is all just meat in the end. There are multiple philosophies on and styles of butchery (usually varying between religions and country) but they are all broadly similar -- portion sizes, ease of cooking (roasting a large joint vs say the Japanese ultra thin slices thing), ease of butchery, cleanliness of resulting product and ease of transport tending to dictate what is done. Humans don't have a poison sack, a diet that is likely to trouble you, or an otherwise particularly notable biology that prevents eating (see something like the Icelandic fermented shark and why it has to be done that way). As others mentioned there are some long term concerns but in a survival situation that is less of an issue.

Sever at joints, remove muscle from bone in muscle groups, skinning might vary but generally skin is not great unless you eating birds but there are ways to cook with it (see something like goat or sheep smokies as per parts of western sub saharan Africa, not the fish from Scotland). I don't know what the filet mignon equivalent would be in a human but if we are doing survival then you are back to ease more than wanting a tender cut. If prepping for longer storage in various conditions then you tend to want to remove offal and treat it differently if you seek to eat that as well -- there are plenty of ways to cook kidney (steak and kidney pie is delicious) but... there is a reason kidney stinks when you are cooking and if you even vaguely know what your kidneys do then you will know why.

I am slightly curious that nobody seems to have made a "certain parts" argument that is not long term biology based yet -- I once heard someone say they would donate certain organs because "my eyes were what first saw you and my heart beat for you" or some utter tripe like that, with another doing something similar for facial transplants. I could go with a classical quote about hearts but I think "gonna eat your brains and gain your knowledge" works better.

A lone star tick did in my cat by giving it some cytauxzoa. Bobcats can live with the parasite but 2/3 of house cats die in a few weeks after exposure. I thought he'd be safer living out where the busses don't run (over cats). Turns out, the place is crawling with ticks, mostly this lone star tick. I didn't get a new cat.

Ticks, fucking ticks. I think I have a particular hate/OCD with ticks, probably related to living many years in a place so full of ticks, that you fumigated them, poisoned them to the core, burned them to the ashes, and the damn things came back in less than a month. I used to live looking carefully if the assholes had gotten up to my room, waking up and looking around just in case one of those had clinged to me somewhere.

And the damn things were so hard to kill also, you could step on them, jump on them, and they were like "hey, what's up?", thus I started bathing them in alcohol and burning them alive... perhaps a little psycho from me.

Damn, good thing I moved out from that hell of a place.

If they were already dead, and I was desperate enough, I suppose I would, but there's no way I could eat them raw. They'd have to be cooked until they were no longer recognizable as a human.
But it would only be as a last resort, and if they weren't already dead there's no way I could bring myself to kill them for food.

then I would cut the person into small fist sized chunks of meat after properly preparing them
so you would want to cut at the base of the ribs then cut from the inside to avoid opening a organ
cut the stomach and intestines out and get rid of them so you don't ruin the meat and because why the hell would you eat someones intestines?
then get the kidneys and liver out
then the bladder
then lungs and heart
but don't trash the heart
cut out all the muscle you can get
and find a large bowl
fill it halfway with blood and put the muscles + heart in amd wait 1 hour
then light the fire and suspend the heart and muscles above the flame so they cook
when they finish cooking put them all higher so they are just in the smoke
then sit by your fire and snack on @BlueFox gui s body

because the fire is set up in a cabin style it will give off more heat than light so you don't freeze to death and you can digest the meat faster
and if you don't eat all of it immediately tge ones left in the smoke will stay good longer so you can have another snack in the morning

and if you need shelter for the night you don't need to hunt for materials
because you got the meat cleanly the skin is still intact
just stick some bones in the ground near the fire and strech the skin over to make a horrifying blanket fort and goto sleep

if you are actually in a situation that you need to you can kill (not bluefox buy someone else) and use someone and you have a significantly higher chance to survive
