TheFl0w releases Henkaku Enso 3.65 support for 3.60 users

IMG_7099.JPG

Vita owners might be excited to know that thanks to the efforts of TheFl0w, that something big is on the way, soon. If you're on FW 3.60, now you'll be able to play games from higher firmwares, such as 3.65. Adrenaline and Henkaku Enso have already been updated to support 3.65 as well. You'll need to update using TheFl0w's method, as there's no native support for Vitas currently on 3.65 yet, though a release for that is in the works for later down the line. He has extensively tested this current method and will be releasing it today, at UTC+1 23:00.

 You can see a list of games that require FW 3.61+ here.

 Release

Pros
  • You will be able to access the PSN store, activate your device and download your purchased games again (only as long as Sony doesn't decide to release a new update that prevents you from doing that).
  • You will be able to play all games that were released for firmwares 3.61-3.65.
Cons
  • You will not be able to downgrade back to 3.60 if you find that this custom firmware doesn't suit you.
  • You can lose the ability to run homebrews, if you modify the OS and end up in a semi-brick where you are forced to reinstall the firmware. This should however not happen to a regular user, but I'd rather not install applications that modify read-only partitions like os0: or vs0:.
  • Some applications may not work on the new firmware and need to be ported.

I wonder if I were to update then copy my old shell.self into vs0 is my plugins would still work
too risky though so im gonna dig through some stuff and attempt a soft update so I can safely restore if I brick
if it works ill make a soft downgrade too
if the soft downgrade works ill port it to 3.65
hopefully it does work tho
im not gonna be soft updateing to 3.65 though since I don't have any dumps of 3.65 to mess with
but I do have a 3.61 and 3.67 dump to play with

If you update, the most of plugins don't work, because it's a problema of developers, not the root of the installation.

Yeah it's pretty risky, and if you brick and restore the system you will be stuck in 3.65 without enso

if it works ill make a soft downgrade too
We don't have any software downgrade yet.

I actually have something to say that can help people

because you are unable to go back to 3.60 if you semibrick your fucked
especially if your me
ALOT of homebrew does not support 3.65 and the vita scene is not as active as the 3ds scene
so unless someone who has free time wants to port everything it will likely be a while until everything is ported (99% of the stuff I use is not supported)
if you mess with bootconfig alot and you break it
you WILL lose henkaku
if you don't want that then I suggest using the fork of the updater @SKGleba made
it supports ux0 for the bootconfig
if you break it you can boot without the memcard and use a clean bootconfig from ur0
because the updater updates the actual firmware it writes to f00d
because downgrades are impossible and updating is a little risky im working on something
someone might do it before me tho :/
To use the bootconfig from ux0 just add a "- include path/to/bconfig" at the beginning.
My fork of 3.65 enso port checks if theres a bootconfig in ux0 but ONLY if SAFE_MODE or UPDATE_MODE enabled (if bootconfig exists - patches are enabled >>> you can create own recovery (no need for vs0 if sm/um) but ofc you must include all drivers).
So in theory you can mess up with vs0 and then get recovered with this.

tbh I'm not too interested in updating. think I'll refrain from doing so until I actually find myself wanting to play 3.61+ games. I could also just try to find a cheap 3.60 PSTV and do this, although those are getting rare these days.

Um, it clearly says at the top to add plugins to config instead of bootconfig for a reason...
i know
but some people dont read
its better to have 2 warnings instead of 1
also i havent updated yet cuz i brick alot so i dont know if theres a warning in the app

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

We don't have any software downgrade yet.
YET
im going to make one
partially downgrade or upgrade so if something like a brick happens you can reinstall henkaku
soft downgrades are useless though
just something fun to mess with
but a soft update would hopefully allow 3.61+ games on 3.60
i know that when i was fooling around and managed to get my vita to soft downgrade to 2.6 i wasnt able to play terraria
but safemode still said 3.60 or later
i dont have alot of free time but im going to be working on making a soft updater at night and durning my break next week

I’m going to clarify here - restoring the system does NOT remove Enso. I had a few issues and was forced to restore - I just ended up with a clean 3.65 system with Henkaku.

It will remove MolecularShell and VitaShell though so make CMA backups of those. Even that’s not such a huge deal now that psvimgtools can generate a VitaShell backup.
