Grab 'Dead Space' For Free On Origin Right Now

dead space.JPG

For an unspecified amount of time, you can impersonate Isaac Clarke, engineer on the spacecraft USG Ishimura for free on EA's Origin. Released in 2008, Dead Space is an action horror game set in space that will task you to protect the remaining living crew and fend off waves of Necromorphs; horrific zombie-alien hybrids that won't succumb to traditional means. Headshots do about as much damage to them as flicking rubber bands. To survive, you'll need to dismember their insect-like limbs, one at a time. Fortunately, your offense is equally unique, as the high-powered mining tools at your disposal provide the means to fight against the threat.

It has been hailed by many as one of the best horror games in the last decade, it might be a good time to (re)discover why, and all free of charge. Since it was released a decade ago, you won't need a beefty PC setup to run it.

Once it’s in your library you can play it for as long as you have access to the service. Just login to your Origin account through the website or the PC app and then claim it for free to add it to your library.

i enjoyed this game, shame the 2nd was predictable and the third ruined it.

would be nice to see a reboot for current gen and bring it back to horror rather than a sci fi action/shooter.

How long will the event last?
Usually a month or two, for the most part it's until they give another game away.

They've already given Dead Space away like 2 or 3 times before, so I already have it.

I already own it on Steam, doesn't that mean I need it on Origin to play it anyway?
Dead Space came out before Origin, so it doesn't require it (and was never updated to require it). Even when you download it from Origin itself it doesn't require it, you can just uninstall Origin afterwards and the game will still work

You didn't really need to make a front page post about this you know, it's just one of the many games that have gone free for a while recently, plus we already have a dedicated sticky thread in the PC section about these things (I posted about this about half a day before this thread was made), so just bumping that one up for more people to see would make more sense... Just don't like to see things that only last for 1-2 days or so in the front page to be honest.

You can also get King of Fighters 2002 for free on GOG right now.

That is not a news post so it does not get frontpage'd.
My point exactly and I included both games with the links to them in my post in my Free Games thread that's stickied too, way sooner to boot, no reason for front paging something that only lasts for like 3 days.

That wasn't my point.
I never said to front page my thread...It was already front paged several times in the past, even though it isn't a 'news' post.
My point was, that it's already covered and it doesn't need multiple threads...or at least a link to the original discussion where I started this since the beginning.
As I said....didn't intended to be mean or something...

When free is worth a lot!

I'd call this a classic but it still feels pretty fresh to me after all these years. Great game!!

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
