Would you guys be interested in a fundraising stream?

Disclaimer: This is by no means a guarantee that I will be streaming soon or ever.

I'm trying to raise money for my theater group to go to a conference this summer. We're running out of new ideas and our old ideas are not generating as much profit. If I were to do an interactive video game stream to help raise money, would you guys be interested in watching?

What is the purpose of this conference?

Why crowd funding rather than members of your group contributing money?

How much is needed?

What are the primary needs that funding will serve?

Just a note, normally these kinds of threads would be against the rules on advertising without staff permission. I would imagine a staff member would be fine with this (probably), but regardless Id advise asking a supervisor or admin just to be on the safe side.

A bunch of non profit theaters in Texas get together to perform one act plays and attend workshops about all aspects of theater.

We try to raise as much as we can because it's relatively expensive and not everyone can easily pay the fee.

About $350

Food, lodging, attendance, travel, and one recreational activity.

Didn't really see this as advertising but I'll ask staff to either approve or remove.

Why not a Kickstarter thing where you'll stream the performances you do, and a monthly performance quota. Like 2 performances a month.

Oh, you misunderstood. I'm talking about streaming video games and putting donations towards the trip.
I'm pretty sure streaming the performance would violate some rights.

If it's an original piece of work, how? Unless there are adult-ish themes and what not....

As far as streaming video games, what are your assets to use?

Ah, anywho... You should figure out what you want to stream, and off of what platform. Consoles require capture cards, and OBS requires a reasonably decent computer. What do you have to work with?

My Switch and that's pretty much it. I'd probably do stuff like Mario kart, rocket league, and maybe jackbox so viewers can join in but that's only if people are interested. At the moment, I'm only toying with the idea.

Ok, here’s how I see it. Considering this is for a charitable cause, you might be able to open a permanent stream if you can get others to commit to partnering and streaming on your channel. You garner followings quickly by staying live and active. Those followings can be more potential donations. So, rather than just stream on a channel, stream on it AND admin a permanent, active broadcast on it. With about 4-8 partners, along with yourself you could:

1. Establish a brand by having the channel and fundraising put you out there.
2. Establish a channel by constantly streaming something to it (you or the partners).
3. Fund your group with the income from donations, and eventually the channel.

I think this would be a nice way to get your group permanently funded.

I really like that idea and may look into it further. It would be a lot of work and organization to even get started though. We'll see how things turn out.
