This is an idea that was brought up in this thread, and I think I should make it a reality, but I'll ask your opinion first.
The point of this competition is to have fun and maybe get some people interested in speedrunning for real.
The game would be structured similarly to KYT, meaning every round will get its separate thread for people to discuss in. Every month, a new game will be selected randomly from a list. People would be able to submit games through a Google Forms application. On the first day of the month, the game will be announced, along with the timer start point (if the game doesn't have its own timer). From then on, people could start their runs. People should record and upload their runs to YouTube, uncut, preferably with a timer overlay (you can set this up in OBS, an easy-to-use recording and streaming programme); this could be left out if the game has its own speedrun timer or if the person can't set OBS up for some reason. In this case, the judges would measure the time of the run.
The deadline would be the 25th. From then on, the runs would be distributed evenly between the judges, who can watch them, to measure them and look for anything questionable.
The monthly leaderboard would then be posted on the 30th, and then we can move on to the next game (if the moth consists of 31 days, that day will be treated as a free day).
I would be the one posting threads, announcements and such. If you're interested, this first month will be used to set everything up, name the event, collect judges, etc.
So, what do you think?
UPDATE: This will be a thing. Please PM me if you want to be a judge (you can still submit runs if you're a judge, you just can't review your own submissions).
