Is Crash Bandicoot coming to Nintendo Switch?

crash-logo.png

In the light of Nintendo's great sales numbers it seems like activision are looking to bring their recently released Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy to the hand-held market.
According to Max Arguile, licensing manager for GB Eye "Activision is going all in on Crash with a PC and Nintendo Switch port slated for this year and a brand new instalment in 2019."

This is not the first time fan's have been hopeful for a Switch release, keymailer.co accidentally listed a Switch version a few months ago.

I have it on PS4 and the controlsof Crash feel too wonky for such a precise platformer for me that i don't get much fun out of it.

Still a Switch Port would be good news for others.
Thing is they used the original geometry and other mechanics from the originals, which, for example, makes the first game's depth REALLY tough to work with in many occasions. You may jump and feel like you're jumping just the right distance, but you may under/over shoot. It's the issue with the originals and the start of the 3D platformers. The remakes suffer from the same thing... at least the first game. Other than that, the controls in the following two games are smooth as hell.

I think a new Gex is what we all want.
Are you reading my fucking mind?!

I wanted him in All-Stars... I knew it wouldn't happen but he is by far one of my favorite video game characters from one of my favorite games. The 1st game was fantastic, the 3rd game was the best!

Here's hoping! With the Switch topping 14 Million sales in it's first year alone, publishers would be STUPID to not get their dev teams on board the Switch hype train.

Those are new ones i mean older 3d platformers died except for mario. like crash spyro and banjo
You said ALL 3d platformers other than Mario died. Nice try moving those goalposts though.

Crash's revival effectively debunks your newer revised comment as well anyways. The remake released to fairly high critical success and was a huge financial hit, smashing the sales predictions.

Crash Remastered's success also prompted the revival of Medievil. Which incidentally is a far more "dead" (pun absolutely intended) IP than Crash. Medievil has a fanbase who fondly remembers it (myself included), but it is significantly smaller than Crash's. They have also been hinting at a Spyro revival for a while now since Crash released.

Yooka Laylee basically IS Banjo 3 in all but name and IP. The original team of ex-Rare staff got as close as they could without causing a lawsuit. To the point where it would have been called a "knockoff" had it not been the original Banjo team. The original Banjo platformer died well before the genre went into decline and hibernation (pun also intended), there were still many successful 3D platformers released several years after Tooie. It was the Microsoft buyout of Rare that killed Banjo (and Rare itself with the subsequent departure of many of the most talented employees). There weren't many exclusive platformers on Xbox in general compared to PS2 and Gamecube (despite continued success of the genre throughout that generation).

3D platformers are obviously seeing a very successful comeback. Mario has seen continued success, but even Odyssey is a sort of return to the more open form of 64 and Sunshine. following more linear games like Galaxy and 3D World. But even lesser known smaller studios are breaking into the genre with a lot of success. This has now caught the attention of other mainstream developers, Crash's revival just further nailed the evidence that the genre is alive and well again especially for classic IPs.

DUDE. Stop. You don't know this. You're REALLY annoying. With the success of Crash and the chatter for Spyro there very-well could be. Can you stop being so closed-minded?!
With the direction they went with Spyro and the Skylanders niche.. I don't know. A true, return to form Spyro the Dragon game would be surprising

I don't see why that would discount a Spyro remaster. Crash appeared in Skylanders prior to the Remaster's release, they actually used it to promote interest in the remake. Sony have been teasing a classic Spyro revival since the Crash remake came out, there have even been hints within the past week or two. There's nothing stopping two different genres and even art styles existing simultaneously. Sega did it with Sonic Mania and Forces.

I don't know why a Spyro remaster would come as a shock to anyone.

Seems like a logical decision if they do bring it over. The kind of audience that would love Crash games are absolutely owners of the Nintendo Switch.

Well doesn't the fact that Crash has successfully been revived when you considered his franchise dead actually stand as all the more of a reason to think the same could happen with the likes of Spyro? Create a remastered edition of the original trilogy on one game. Considering that Vicarious Visions is also in control of the Spyro franchise at this time, and they made the N. Sane Trilogy, I actually think it's almost a given that what we saw happen to Crash with the N. Sane Trilogy will inevitably be happening soon for Spyro as well.

I spent so much damn time playing the second Gex. Favorite area was the haunted house. Such a good platformer. I'd kill for a Switch release.

Crash is irrelevant. It was a cameo appearance. They revamped the Spyro franchise entirely. It isn't meant to be an argument to discredit any potential reboot. Just that it instills doubt.

Only Sony thought classic Crash was irrelevant. The remake's massive financial success debunked that notion outright. Sony changed their tune quickly afterwards, even demonstrating the willingness to risk a revival of an IP less popular than either Crash or Spyro (Medievil). The demand for a Spyro remaster has been incredibly high following the success and generally positive reception of Crash. A lot of people actually held Spyro in higher regard than Crash, so the demand may be even higher. I believe it not only likely to occur, but probably inevitable.

I meant Crash is irrelevant to my reasoning behind the doubt. It's plausible and possible.
