So, as some of you may or may not remember, I had a pretty interesting problem on my o3ds where the top screen wouldn't work unless I was playing a ds title. Well I ordered a n3dsxl and it just got here today. After setting it up, playing a few minutes of animal crossing and eventually turning it off, I set it down for a bit. I tried to turn it back on a bit later and the sound came out, the light came on, but both of the screens are black. How the fuck unlucky is that? Anybody have any solutions?

Did you try Recovery Mode? Does the LCDs work in Recovery Mode but no where else? Have you tried removing/reinserting your battery + booting your 3DS without the SD card?

If you did all those, you're another who bit the "BSoD with sound brick" dust.

Okay so recovery mode works fine, both the screens work prefectly but I go to turn it off and back on and the screens are black again. Where can I go from here?

Return the system. That type of brick has so far been seen as unrecoverable. Someone here not too long ago attempted sysNAND restore, CTRtransfer, and Lazarus3DS with no improvements. You're person #5 I've seen here who has soft bricked like this.

Black Screens, Everything works in system update mode, Error when camera disconnected

N3DS XL Black Screen of Death

3ds bricked itself, can't figure out why or how to fix.

Big Problem with a possible Brick on New 3ds XL

Feels bad to be a Bad Luck Brian. :(

I got like a theory about this brick. On both of my consoles the 3d fucked up right before, like RIGHT fucking before the screens fucked up. And like it'd be where the 3d would just look like the images sliding away from each other instead of a 3d effect. So it may have something to do with the 3d, it may require taking the console apart and replacing some shit to solve it.

Sounds like you got water/moisture in the 3D depth slider, which has then shorted out the internal slide potentiometer.
Have you tried working the 3D slider up and down a number of times?
