Gaming Pokemon Crystal 3DS (VC) Celebi always in Pokeball...?

So I saw a video and it said that no matter what ball you catch Celebi in, in the VC versions, upon transferring, he'll be in a regular pokeball...

is this true?

If so I'll just use my masterball on him to avoid headache...

It makes sense, since gen 2 doesn't have anything in its Pokemon data structures that saves what ball something's caught in. There's no way for US/UM to extrapolate from what isn't there. d:

It can, as there's no shiny lock in Gen 2... However, good luck finding one
