Hello, first time User here. I have been trying to softmod my Wii (4.3E) for the last few days. I cannot seem to install BootMii as IOS or Boot2. Which is strange since I read everywhere that I should always be able to install it as IOS.
When I just skip installing BootMii, I seem to not be able to do the cIOS Installation for cIOS 249 base 56 v10 beta53-alt and cIOS 250 base 57 v10 beta52.
I only get cIOS v6 as the newest option. Why is that?
I followed the complete softmod guide by the reddit user mobclutch.
I also reformatted the SD card I was using to FAT32, renamed it and made sure not to have it locked or anything, but it just won't write on it for the BootMii.
I tried the following SD Cards: San Disc Micro SD 1GB + 2GB,Kingston SD 2GB, Toshiba SDHC 4GB.
Keep in mind I WAS able to install the Homebrew Channel, but not ModMii as an IOS or Boot2... and neither install the recommended IOS version of 8 or higher.
I also used the information provided here, but was not able to find out what exactly the issue is. As I said, I am afraid to install any IOS without knowing which one I need exactly. But to install USB loaders, I need to install a recent IOS.
In another thread, Cyan mentions that v8 would be good enough. I have no idea why my Installer only allows me to go up to cIOS v6, does it have to do with the lack of BootMii?
Am I doing something wrong? Can I bypass this? Is it my SD cards' fault?
I kinda feel like it's pointless to look for another SD card since it didn't work with the cards I used, and they are on the list of compatible SD cards from the wiibrew-wiki.
I have a white Wii (4.3E) and it says "Model No. RVL-001 (EUR) C2006 Nintendo" on the back. I tried to do the cIOS Installation without Internet access, but according the the above cIOS Install guide (grabbing the WAD-files via NUS downloader).
Thank you in advance for your help! I feel like a total scrub with this.
PS: If IOS v6 would suffice to launch a USB-Loader, then just tell me how to proceed correctly.
