Would it be possible to have the site send you a message with the outcome of any reports you make? Currently it just goes into a black hole. It would be useful to get feedback on whether your report was useful or whether it was just annoying noise (so you can stop making reports of the same kind). Another site I frequent has this feature, for example:
8D54780A-1710-487E-8A38-8ACD687E4F92.png

Another feature the site has is "Talk With A Moderator" which is a little forum where you can see only your own posts and you get replies from mods. Usually for asking questions about why your posts or comments got removed, or discussing something sensitive. It is transparent in that all mods see it and can respond to it if they choose.

Obviously neither of these are things that can be coded up in five minutes, but just some ideas for future feature additions.

We can actually respond to reports if we so wish. You get a notification about it in that case.

Talking with a moderator: PM one?

You'd probably only respond if you needed some information from the reporter wouldn't you? If it is a simple matter of ignoring the report (it's not appropriate) or deleting the post/comment in question (if obvious) there would probably be no feedback to the reporter. Just an auto message saying "report for thread 'thread name here' resolved: no action taken" or "report for comment 'first word or two of comment here' resolved: comment deleted". It would be neat.

Not really needed, just possible feature (if people learn to report better you might have less noise to deal with, and reporters can get a sense of closure too).

In regards to pming a mod, many users wouldn't know who they were, and there is value to making concerns known to all at once, and also whoever wants to reply can (instead of it having to be the random one chosen by the user). Plus keeps the noise out of your personal inboxes.

While a good idea it would only make me wonder even more if the majority of my reports even get looked at.

How would having feedback on every report you make provide more doubt than not having feedback??

Anyway, whilst it doesn't seem like a bad idea, it would of course increase the mod's workloads considerably.

i approve this suggestion..
so i can screenshot my reports and brag to my gbatemp gang about the members i successfully banned out of site and show of my ego
/joke

now seriously
this function already exists but its not obligatory
i did some reports where in the notification i got a message of the moderator asking "wtf are you reporting, i don't see any harm, fuck off" *
i remember about twice got the notification saying it was taken care off
and sometimes i got separate pm by the moderator asking me or talking about what i did report
it just comes to the moderator preference and patience. mostly you won't see the outcome because it's not needed and "it's not your business" it's staff business to deal with it

*not actual mensage

I actually remember reporting a thread with "fake and gay" because the thread had an image of a discord chat with my message edited with inspect element to say some weird shit. @Issac closed it, but I got a notification that said something along the lines of "Locked. But mind your language in reports."

It doesn't increase the workload because it is automatic. No message needs to be added.

as Issac said - this is already possible, the moderator gets an option to notify you if they want (there's a field for that when we handle reports).

but most of the time we don't, because this requires typing up a manual comment, when you have 50 reports to handle you just dont have the time to type something up manually at each report.

yes, we get a lot of reports.

It would be nice if there was an automated message that says something along the lines of "your report has been disregarded" or something like that if it's not useful or worthwhile, though

You could also have one of those "Why am I getting this message?" hyperlinks that links to an example of a "good/well-formatted" report, to reduce confusion

Yes exactly, automated feedback saying what action was taken. No extra effort required from the mods dealing with it. They might even end up writing less replies.

I agree, this would be neat to have such feature (if it could be done automatically, of course).
From my own experience: I'm pretty sure that I've asked for my own thread to be moved to another section once.
The thread wasn't moved, though, most likely because it's okay for it to be where it is, but I dunno.
Anyway, the fact, that I don't know what exactly happened after, still makes me feel uncomfortable.
Like maybe I did wrong thing reporting that old thread… or that I've never even submitted that report and I have false memories because I'm crazy.

It'd be more work for the mods unnecessarily. If you're actively participating in a thread you'll likely see the outcome of your report, I know I have many times. That's all that really needs to happen. As some have said, mods can choose to notify you if they so desire. It's nice, but not needed to be enforced.

Implementing an automated one shouldn't be too hard, they could even find the code ready from other Xenforo sites and tweak it a bit... Would certainly be a nice addition. I don't report almost at all, but in general it could be pretty useful for those who do. Even something as basic as 3-5 different 1-3 word long notifications from a drop down menu on the mod's side would be enough (eg: Resolved, Post Deleted, False Report, etc.).
