Rainway gets its first official trailer, features the Nintendo Switch

The team behind the game streaming app, Rainway, have uploaded an official trailer for their upcoming service. The video showcases players being able to stream PC games to their Nintendo Switch, phone, Xbox One, and more. Despite featuring the Nintendo Switch multiple times in the trailer, the end of the video does not show the Switch next to the other platforms listed (Firefox and Chrome web browsers, Xbox One, Windows, iOS/Mac, Linux, and Android).

When questioned on this fact on Twitter, the Rainway Twitter account said that the beta for their app is only on platforms that currently include a functioning web browser, and that Switch support is still in progress. Though the Switch does technically have access to a web browser, it's not a full feature.

Rainway currently has no scheduled release date, and though work is being made on a Switch app, there is still no confirmation from Nintendo that this will even be allowed on the eShop.

Our tech works. You've seen it, you just saw more of it. We've reached out to Nintendo with our proposal, went back and forth and we are awaiting confirmation for a possibility of a native eShop release. We've always said this. If we get a green light to build a native app, awesome. If not we still work through the web browser just fine. That is how our device agnostic tech works.

This is a bit off topic, but I really don't like these advertisements with "normal" people, they always seem extremely cheesy to me(this includes the recent Switch ads with "everyday" people). I mean either make it intentionally cheesy but this is hard to get right(Wii U ads…) or stop hiding that your trying to sell a product and instead just scream everybody in the face how awesome your product is
Some people don't like cheesy ads at all(or ads at all like probably most people do), I personally don't have a problem with them, only these "lifestyle" ads are stupid.

Normal people don't try to use a specific product as often as possible and meet tons of people who use the same product as often as possible.

EDIT: changed all videos to links so the thread isn't cluttered with them
EDIT2: didn't worked, removed all linked videos
When you're advertising, you want to stay as safe and inoffensive as possible, to avoid pushing away any potential consumers. I'm going to hazard a guess, but I think being direct and upfront about how awesome your product is (as you described, "scream everybody in the face" about it) will turn off some people to your product. They'll be dismissing you and, therefore, your product, as idiotic. And besides, not every advertiser can be intentionally cheesy all the time. People would get sick of it.

it's just a crappy rip off of the nintendo switch commercial.
even if rainway is decent which i doubt it will be it will require a high end pc and superfast internet.

Nice, I hope it works better than the In-home streaming and the Nvidia one. The nvidia one on a TV (Android TV) is just... yuck

That's marketing for you.
You're are right, marketing is indeed highly subjective.

I mostly agree with what you're saying. You're right about that not every ad can be (intentionally)cheesy. But what we're seeing is that more and more companies do this style of advertising. Watching "normal" people doing "normal" stuff, without even mentioning the product they are using far more often then a normal person would. I should have expressed me more clearly when I wrote "scream everybody in the face" was an exeggeration. What I meant was traditional advertising, just (more or less honestly) trying to sell something, should have a place too.
In the end I have to admit that the reason for this is just the fact that I really don't like these ads. Some people may like them, but they definitely don't appeal to my (regarding most things) weird taste

Yeah, you got to admit, it's pretty phony. But, then again, everything in advertising is pretty phony. It's part of the reason a lot of people can't stomach the stuff.

Mobile technology and my mobile subscription can't handle streaming games. I have a 5GB per day I can use at a time, then for every 1GB I need to send a text...

i know it is a given she would have a phone with her, but why the phone controller , she already has a switch with joycons

Because you wouldn't be able to play most games with just a phone's touch screen :/ the phone has cellular capabilities since the Switch only operates over WIFI, no steady WIFI stream out and about you know what I mean?
