Once an Romdumper gets released for Firmware 1.0, i can dump my copy of Breath of the Wild.

Well I got my switch on 3.0.1 so I'm guessing it will have to sit in the box for 10+ years until I can get CFW on it...I'm going to cry.

Just update it and enjoy the games instead. We'll eventually get possibilities for higher firmwares. It always happens.

Maybe 2 Years max considering how fast they found the exploit.

Unless they found a method to retain the "fuses" then a downgrade is not possible. However, you can dump the current update, and restore that update as long as you haven't went up.

Isn't it also just possible to beat the check done on the fuses through either preventing the check or faking the fuse result? Granted, it would have to be done every time the system checks but that's the other half of this problem that I haven't seen talked about much.

The check would probably be implemented into the bootrom, and probably caches a list of firmware-efuse data on Nintendo's servers, so it will not be bypassable but can be updated.

Yes, you can play Mario Odyssey on 3.0.1. However, if you're on 3.0.0 or lower, you should stay there.

You can. 3.0.1 is the minimum firmware version for SMO. But it's best you stay at whatever version you're currently on if it's 3.0.0 or below, if you have any interest in the homebrew scene.

Thank you, has there been any updates for the game, would I be able to 100% it. Also unless I'm mistaken if you are someone without internet (I know everyone has internet lol) on 3.0.0 and you buy Odyssey then tough luck to you just wasted your money. Would that be correct.

Look, I know it's always good to stay on the lowest FW possible.
However: So many ppl were recommending to be on 3.0.0 as it is the homebrew firmware for now.
The talk of Plutoo, Derrek and Naehrwert has strengthened me in it.
The Snes core and Doom can be used on which FW? 3.0.0!
I looked for a "hackable" Switch because I'm dreaming of RetroArch and it seems 3.0.0 is the best thing to be on for it so I don't feel bad that I updated my 2.3.0 Switch instantly to 3.0.0 but I can understand that ppl want to stay lower than that.
It depends on your patience of how long you can wait for stuff to become a thing.
I for me don't see any downside that I am on 3.0.0 now.

I guess I'd best start asking on the Temp to see if someone can sell or trade a 3.0.0 Switch. May have to sell some stuff. *sigh* I just don't want to get gypped.

Well in our local store (Saturn) there's still a "big mountain" of 2.3.0 consoles so I could get you one but I'm in Germany and you seem to be in the USA so it won't turn out very cheap for you. Just check all stores near you with the serial number list provided in another thread here.

The other problem, it's a huge investment no matter where I get it from, unless I can find a trade to mitigate the costs, or break it down in payments, *sigh* yeah, my console won't be exploitable for...some time. I doubt there are people on here willing to make a compromise either.

I was lucky enough to have a friend who lent me the money which I'm paying him back over the next three months. I just wanted make sure to get a low enough Switch until they're all sold out.

But you should be able to get money from any bank for such a small amount of money (at least in their dimensions it is).

I'm afraid it's not that simple where I live. No one on the Temp would be willing to part with a golden console, either. At least, not without pulling a douche scalping move.

You already have a Switch on 4.1, right?
I know it's some kind of bad behavior but what you could do is:
Buy a Switch on a low FW with the "serial number method", do a factory reset on your current Switch, take out the low FW Switch from the newly bought package and put your "old" Switch in (if it hasn't any scratches), then return the bought Switch package to the store (without them knowing that you swapped the main device).
All your 4.1 savegames would be lost then of course so it's a hard decision.

No dice, my brother uses it and has a near complete XBC2 save, so no dice there. I'd rather just get a refurbished or used 3.0.0 console to be honest. So..yeah, not an option.

Seems the least you can do for now is keeping any single penny you can and use the serial method whenever you have enough money.
