Hello, i just received a new Nintendo 2DS and i want to know the best way to be able to play downloaded 3DS and DS games. I have a TT card for my DS Lite but there is no section for the 2DS on the forum so i dont know where to find this topic.

I dont know if the best way is a flashcard, a software or anything else. All i want is a link to a good tutorial.

Thank you

A 2DS is essentially the same thing as a 3DS.
To play downloaded 3DS games, you will need to mod your system.
Follow this guide https://3ds.guide/
You should be able to play DS games with your TT card on the 2DS, you might need to install a white list patch for the flash cards. (Requires hacked system)

Or you could always buy a Sky3DS flash card if you don't want to mod the system. (To Play 3DS roms)

if he decides to run luma that will patch the whitelist for him, no need to do it manually. (it will actually fuck things up if he does.)

So basically, i have a DS Lite with a DSTT and this work fine. Now i have a 2DS and all i want is to play 3DS roms.
My 2DS i on version 11.6.0-39U

I looked at https://3ds.guide/ntrboot and apparently i need a second device of the same type (3DS, 2DS, etc.)
I look for a way to be able to play 3DS roms without a second device.

I dont know what homebrew bring to the device, but i think i need that first, after, i think i have to install something else to be able to play 3DS roms.

So, if possible im searching for a way to Homebrew, frimware and all that stuff with just one device (my 2DS) or i could buy the Sky3DS card if you tell me it works well and if i have no cheaper option.

One more things, you guys are telling things like; luma, NTRBootHax, StarGate 3DS, but i dont know what you are talking about. I think i need a little explanation of how the 2DS/3DS system works.

Thank you!

If you are lucky, your DSTT card might have a supported chip which ntrboot can be flashed on :O (so you can follow this https://3ds.guide/flashing-ntrboot-(nds) ). And... just read the whole https://3ds.guide right from the start, it seriously explains everything you need to know ^__^;;...

You should check whether your DSTT's chip is supported on this list: https://gist.github.com/Hikari-chin/6b48f1bb8dd15136403c15c39fafdb42

To check your chip model you need to run "DsttFlashChecker.nds" on your DSTT. That file is included in the archive hosted here (as commented on that github page): https://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/?mode=desc&fileid=2112

Luma is Custom Firmware, I.E it lets your system do things Nintendo doesn't want it to do like play downloaded games or run homebrew.
StarGate 3DS is kinda like your TT Card but can play 3DS roms and DS Roms without modding your system.

If you want to mod the system with custom firmware can I recommend http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575
It's a flash card again like your TT card that can play DS roms but it also has built in NTRBootHax. (No Second DS/2DS/3DS needed)
Watch this for info

Ok, so actually i have two different DSTT, i've tested both with the "DsttFlashChecker.nds". These are the two results:

One of them is unknown and the other is unsupported in your list.

Thanks for your help.

I watched the video, a video of tutorial should be more usefull for me. (english isn't my native language so it's difficult to understand without a demonstration.

So you said the R4i Gold 3DS Plus should allow me to do this "Flashing NTR Boot" that Pado was talking about?
So if i had a the R4i Gold 3DS or a compatible DSTT, i could mod the 2DS systeme with a custom firmware like "Luma3DS"? An this would allow me to play 3DS roms on my 2DS?

Cool Thank you man.

At this point, i think it is my cheapest option to mod my system. I will probably buy one of these card.

I think the maximum sd card capacity for the 2DS is 4 GB? should i buy the R4i Gold 3DS Plus with 4 GB?

get a bigger sd (as big as you can . . . i use a 128gb)

you only need like 1/2 a gig and only once for like one minute for ntrboot (if you want nds roms later than you will need a bigger sd)

If you are talking about the SD card you insert into the 2DS directly then use what you want. I have a 128GB and it's WAY more then I needed. 64GB is a nice price/size.
The MicroSD card used in the Flash card 4GB should be fine, it depends on how many DS roms you will have on it at any given time. DS Roms are small so a 4GB one should be plenty.
I suggest you don't buy it with the SD card from the sellers as I have had bad experience with fakes, I would suggest just buying the flash card and then going to a store locally and buy one there.

I have a last question, Pado linked this to flash my DSTT if it was compatible: https://3ds.guide/flashing-ntrboot-(nds)

But if I buy the R4i Gold 3DS Plus, it will be pre-flashed? So what part of the tutorial I have to skip?

And they say something about magnet for folding devices, do i need something for my old 2DS?

The guide has been translated into a number of languages. Click the signpost icon on the top right to choose the language. Maybe yours is there. If you use a video guide you risk it being out of date or wrong (so it will be difficult or impossible for anyone to help you troubleshoot) or dangerous (possibility of it bricking your console). So better to use the written guide if at all possible.
