Square Enix unveiled a brand-new trailer for DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT at Jump Festa this weekend in Tokyo, Japan, showcasing the thrilling fast-paced action in the upcoming 3-v-3 team-based brawler.

Developed in partnership with veteran fighting game studio Team NINJA from KOEI TECMO GAMES, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT features a playable roster of over 25 characters from the FINAL FANTASY series, allowing all manner of team combinations and tactical gameplay.

Fans eager to begin practicing DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT can experience the action early by taking part in the Open Beta which will be available to all PlayStation 4 users from 12th - 21st January 2018. The Open Beta is the perfect opportunity for players to test their skills and experiment with different characters and techniques ahead of the game’s launch on 30th January. More details and timings for the Open Beta will follow at a later date.

Additionally, new artwork of DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT was unveiled, showcasing the powerful heroes and infamous villains of the FINAL FANTASY series that fans can look forward to playing as early next year.

Finally, an informative flowchart has been released, guiding players to finding which powerful summon will best compliment their team within the game. I REALLY hope this won't be just on PS4, want to play it on PC! As someone with well over 2000 hours on 012 Dissidia Duodecim on PSP, I don't want to be left out of this just because I don't have a PS4... I miss playing as Terra Branford (my favorite video game character next to Sephiroth:P) and this looks too good to not be able to play!

All I can feel when watching that gameplay footage are off-screen attacks interrupting your fights, and 2v1 stunlocking/shutouts. On a side note, the animations somehow don't look nearly as clean as they used to, with attack movements coming off as sporadic and jittery. There also seem to be rather glaring pop-in issues in at least one cutscene shown in the trailer. I was a huge fan of Dissidia, putting ~1000 into the original and Duodecim collectively, but I've had a bad pit in my stomach about this game ever since we saw it launch in Japan's arcades. Of course, I hope this turns out well, but nothing so far has given me reason to be hopeful, and as a fan, you'd think I'd be more eager than most to adopt hype for this game.

Oh yes, and don't make this PS4 exclusive. Bring it to PC, you sporks.

Honestly it looks pretty cool. I never actually realized they switched to 3v3. I'm skeptical, but it would actually be really cool to play with friends, if that's possible. A (somewhat) coordinated team of 3 would be super fun.

Pretty much guaranteed to stay on PS4 sadly, i'll probably end up buying one if the game turns out good. I loved the crap out of Dissidia for the PSP and always wondered where it went considering how popular it was.

You know, in the older 2 games, stun/flinch-lock could happen even 1vs1, especially with a good assist if you knew what you were doing, so 2vs1 or 3vs1 will be exactly the same. However, that can also mean the difficulty can be a LOT higher, which is a welcome thing for me. With Sephiroth, Terra Branford or Bartz Klauser you could literally lock anyone you wanted in place or constantly wall/ceiling rush them regardless of who they were! You could even do Feral Chaos without getting touched if you played really well (I got tired though by his 130K HP so after a while I got hit, lol)! And let's not forget all the other characters with teleporting and REALLY ranged attacks like Kefka Palazzo (that annoying triangle element attack that's the move that hits furthest away in the entire game) or Exdeath (who can even damage you while teleporting) that can easily mess/troll with you!:P

But I do agree it looks like the game has it's problems at this point, seems like they just ported it to PS4 rather than enhancing it...

maybe switch as well, assuming that it's possible. (probably not... then again WE did see cloud in smash 4)

Why the "probably not"? It's possible, FF isn't locked to a system, so as long as it's not too troublesome to make a game for some system, the game could be ported there. Switch could run it and is easy to develop for, so it's not a stretch to say there's a chance later down the line for it to get the game too...

Well given that most of the Final Fantasy games of recent time has been on PlayStation consoles and almost solely on PlayStation consoles. It gives me a funny feeling that this release might be a PlayStation brand exclusive. And Sony has noticed that the switch is eating into their market. So it could be possible that Sony would secure it as a exclusive. But I would be more than happy to be wrong about that.

Reason there haven't been more than just a couple of FF games on Nintendo consoles in the past years was because it was a big pain to develop for them and would cost considerably more, bringing more risk to it, causing Square Enix to avoid the systems (3DS and WiiU) for the most part. The Switch has been made with that in mind and is even easier than PS4 or XBox 1 to develop for, reason so many companies got interest in it! Seeing how it's not hard and how it will undoubtedly sell at least decently seeing how big the Switch has already become, it's very likely they will make FF games for the Switch! As for Sony locking them down, that's going to be kinda hard considering FF used to be a Nintendo exclusive franchise in the past and how they can make a lot of money from developing for the Switch, enough to turn down Sony's proposal.

hasnt been nintendo exclusive since the snes days, then it switched to sony with the ps1/pc then back to sony for the ps2 and then the xbox360 finally got some loving
It was exclusive at the start for the first 6, then it went multiplatform. The GameCube had FF games too for example during the PS2 era, just not the same ones. Since SNES, it hasn't been exclusive.

it only had 2 if i recall and that was crystal chronicals none of the mainline ones
So? Mainline or not, it got them. Also, if you think about it that way, then Switch should get this too as this isn't a main installment and almost all spin-offs have been on Nintendo systems...
