Hacking got my ps3 slim today and now there are a few Questions!

Hello Tempers!
I have gotten my ps3 in my mail. sadly it s not completely new and it stinks ... i smell smokelike aroma ^^ and i hate it... so my first question.. how to remove the smokesmell of my ps3... and yeah i know it sounds stupid but ... yeah

soo lets get to my real questions..
i update it to a cfw today cuz i cant wait for my hdd ( we have nearly weekend and i would not get my amazon package till monday so yeah)
and i know 250gb are not much.. and i will need 1tb in the future for sure...
so

How to exchange my hdd from the ps3 ... i know the ps3 runs 4.82 on stock ... and yeah i have another one that ran 3.55 and that was great. i ve already exchanged the hdd of my old ps3 and now i want to exchange of my new one in the future...
has there anything changed compared with the 3.55 exploit?
am i faster if i hack my ps3 now and dont wait
or do i have to do the all over thing again if i want to exchange my hdd?

i know noobquestions... dont blame me. especially because i asked how to remove the smoke smell ihate that smell so yeah

I have PSN games to save at External Hard Drive 1TB/2TB but I installed only one on PS3's internal hard drive until I finished it then deleted it and installed the next one. Simple.

Oh I misunderstood you. I thought you mean someone smoked the cigarette that made it smelly on PS3. If it is smoke. Be careful!

Sorry, K cannot help you with ps3xploiter. For rebug... show a pic ? Did you try safe mode to install rebug CFW ? Here:

Activating Safe Mode



Step 1: Turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.



Step 2:

1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PLAYSTATION 3 is powering on.
2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).

Step 3:

1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PLAYSTATION 3 to power on.
2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button."
   
   
4. Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PLAYSTATION 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode.
5. Then you will see the Safe Mode menu.

Then install rebug CFW. Safe mode is only option if you have a problem with PS3 error or something like that.

For reducing the smoke smell you can put the console in a box with newspaper and regularly change out the paper as it absorbs the stink. Alternatively, you can use these bags of pumice stone than are designed and sold to absorb animal odors. Either way, nothing is going to give you instant results.

man great idea! i ll try this one out for sure... but now i ve to hack it.. and get this puppy to work ... than i am going to treat her nicely and remove that smell of her ...

Let us know but make sure you look at PS3 slim number at wololo link I gave you. And did it said your PS3 is eligibility to be jailbreak ?

• If your PS3 returns 3.56 or below, it’s safe; you may proceed. If your PS3 returns 3.60 or higher, STOP because the exploit will brick your console. (The manufacturing date of your console doesn’t matter as long as the minimum FW is 3.56 or below, mine had date code 1A and it had minimum FW 3.50 so the exploit worked perfectly)

base fw is 2.7 or sth like that

now i ve used another usb... and it is transfering MUCH slower... dont know if this is good or not

Wait.. If your PS3 Slim is 2.7 on your screen then you do not need this trick. Just update to 3.41 or 3.55 then use rebug CFW.

Did you just update 2.7 to 4.82 ? If you did then you shouldn't but thats okay. I hope this is a good news. Keep us update.

the ofw is on 4.82
but the base firmware is on 2.7
i ve used the ps3xploiter.... and yeah it worked but now i can not install the cfw

That's strange. I wish I can help you with. Mine was 3.41 and installed to rebug over 6 years ago.



Something must be missing. Is your PS3 home menu screen work and still 4.82 ?

Try different flash drive. Sometimes different flash drive works better than your flash drive you struggled with.

If so.. Follow youtube instruction very carefully. You can click Pause then go and Pause to following the step. It just update to 4.82 so ignored it since you already did until the next step.. Here:
