I have a 32in smart tv that we usually have in our camper but since it is the winter season and I do not know exactly how cold it gets in the camper during the winter so instead of risking damaging the TV because it's too cold I brought it inside and put it on my desk but it's so big and I'm not sure if it will be in my best interest to have it this close to my face on a daily basis please give your opinions here and whether or not you think this is a good idea....

The picture is approximately how close or far away it is for my face

Looking at a computer screen up close will not cause any permanent damage, just eye strain.

If it's comfortable then it's fine, if it's not comfortable to view this close - then don't use the display. It's all about your level of comfort.

The whole "Don't sit too close to the TV" thing is outdated advice from the early days of Cathode Ray Tube televisions when the designers were like "lol what is radiation shielding" and just kinda let the TVs leak xray radiation at you

i was told it messes up your vision, over enough time. id always sit in front of my 19" playing the nes. i wasnt as close as this is, but my vision is still good. i can see in the dark, after my eyes adjust for a few minutes. my sister would always watch tv closer than you are. she has worn glasses for 12 years now. she is 36

Yeah, studies have shown that screens don't damage your eyes. Normal aging is what usually causes vision deterioration over time. The most significant cause is crystalization of the lens of your eye causing mild far sightedness.

It’s recommended to sit at least arms length from a monitor to reduce eye strain, according to H&S for my new job.

As for TVs, their pixel grid and configuration is a bit different to computer monitors as they’re designed to be kept at least a couple metres from you (I.e at least half way across the room). Sitting too close can cause eye strain from your eyes needing to travel further, and from the brightness of the screen.

I remember seeing an article somewhere about how screen size and pixel density affects the optimal distance you should be from your screen...
