You can stay at 11.2 sysnand and download edited version of the game that doesn't require updating.
So what? You've been given your options, and there is no other help for your issue. You either choose to use an emunand, you choose to NOT play online, or you choose to ditch Gateway and install a CIA instead to play using a CFW. That's it. Case closed.
TFW it's 2017 and people are still religiously using gw emunand...

i ditched GW myself because of that.. i only said it ..because if op keep the emunand on 11.2...he should know it. if he wants online...he have 2 options:
1.Ditch Gateway and use 11.6
2. Create a Franken emuNAND and go online with GW

Op, I'll show you how to downgrade back to 11.2. Then you can update to franken firmware if you want to go online using the tutorial I already linked. That's all it takes. I can make it easy.
What kind of 3DS do you have? Old or new? What region? Is the EMUnand Unlinked? Ill make it as simple as I can. Don't ditch your Gateway. You can have both. Don't listen to the propaganda. It's easy. Follow the guide. Then let me know. Ill get your emunand back and get GW running. B9S Luma 11.6 System nand 11.2/11.6 emunand both working online.

bla, bla, bla. That's already been covered, and there is no need to downgrade to 11.2 just to upgrade to franken firmware. You know the 3 or 4 files that you skip on the update? Just downgrade those. 1 step. End of story.

ctr-httpwn has its own limitations that apply to your situation. The frankenfirmware ... good question, I guess. The N2DS originally came with 11.4, so... I don't have one to try with. But considering you have to be hacked to try, and more than likely with b9s, I don't see any harm at all in trying. Just have a nand backup before you do try. If it fails you can restore again with GodMode9 or something.

I need to know if he is NEW/OLD 3ds and what region to tell him what files to downgrade. It's in the tutorial for 11.2/11.4 hybrid as well but I was going to make step by step for him. I need to know if he is on B9S Luma or something prior and if his nand is unlinked. I need the SPECIFICS OF HIS SETUP to provide SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS. He needs to be on 11.6 B9S LUMA and un-linked NAND for the GW setup ideally, And I will suggest the AIO, tell him how to make it Autoboot Luma and boot GW with R and then he has the option of EVERY CFW(cIOS LOL) as well

OP I forgot the AIO pack can help you with all of this. It's pretty robust and has scripts for your nands, it will help you convert .sav files if you want to migrate all you GW saves over . It has everything all laid out. You'll still need Luma and B9S and unlinked nands. Do thie guide if you don;t have b9s and I can help you unlink nands if its still linked. If you go to "that ISO site" you should be able to find the "inscripted aio pack". I would look at that. Once you are on 11.6 B9S and 11.2/11.6 Emunand you drag-n-drop the contents of the folder that corresponds to your 3ds model/region and just like that, GW and all current CFW's will be set up basically. Follow the instructions.

i tired a frankenemu (i followed a tutorial for franken 11.6)...displayerror on luma..sorry for late response but my girlfriend is in Hospital
