Gloves and take your time while checking the firmware (you can also factory reset if you turned it on normally) and return it.... and ofc and make sure to remove all traces under light. Thats what im doing all the time...... but still no luck.
BTW no scratch and no fingerprints etc. Thankfully there is no seal on the Original package
BUT take @Serpentarius advice...... its wiser and easier.

so i bought 3 switches since last week. first at TRU secaucus nj, that was 3.2. i did not bother to look at the serial. returned it.
2nd at target clifton nj. that was 3.1. but i misread the serial number pages, and i think it was something like XAW7008. returned it.
when i returned the swtich, they had 20 or so units on end caps. out of twenty units, i found one, bought it again right there.

i took the chance. it was the only low XAW7.
and wham! 3.0 on the dot.
bought dec 1st 2017.
grey unit.
im totally psyched. i bought pokken tournament last week. i might MIGHT get dbz and arms.
but my bros kid grabbed my 3ds and upgraded the os to 14.6, and after that fiasco, i might just keep the switch shut off and return pokken.
its pretty simple to figure out the codes if you follow the serials on the first page!

I have bought 2 consoles with Neon Joycons from BestBuy (US) last week. S/N begins with XAW70008 and XAW40005. Any idea which one may be newer? I cannot find useful S/N that can be used to run a comparison with XAW40005.

Stop defacing the Switch Serial Sheet ... everything you do can be undone so stop doing it ! All cells are now protected meaning you can't sort so if you must sort the data ... load it into Excel ...
