Hi All,

So I have a cfw 2ds xl that has the ntrboothax. Everything was working fine. Games were all working normally until little glitches started to happen. I noticed in my freeshop when I try to select using my d-pad, it would scroll super fast and not stop, so basically I can't select anything.

It gets weirder....

All of a sudden games became useless to play because of the random glitches that happen in-game. For example in Kirby delux, I cannot move kirby forward or backwards. Super smash bros, my character will be blocking the whole time on default. New super metroid game does not allow me to use the normal blaster, but instead shoot only my missiles.

Godmode 9 freezes on loading so I can't select anything. Rosalina also freezes. It seems like there is a anti-piracy embedded in the new 2ds xl. If I can't access godmode9, how do I make changes at all?

Btw, my am now on sys 11.6.0-39 but the problems already started when I was on 11.5.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this? Anyone having the same problem? Or is it my 2ds xl? Because everything else works. D-pad and buttons, home menu work perfectly, but only the CFW stuff causes glitches like there is some sort of Anti-piracy prevention added to the device. Thanks for reading.

Thank you Quantumcat for the reply.

The system is normally fine. Home screen and settings are working with no random pressing or moving. Why is it that it happens only in game?

How do you explain that godmode 9 freezes on loading screen? or Rosalina freezing on loading screen?

Maybe do a NAND backup then a CTR transfer in case there's something wrong with some system titles? I don't know why it would only happen in games. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Thanks again bud, but how do I do any kind of backup or transfer when I my godmode9/rosalina freezes on first screen? It always freezes up, it shows loading at the bottom, but the screen never changes to select anything.

I've tried 50 times in different ways, and its still the same? Do you have any idea why this is happening? Anyone? I think it's a built in anti piracy for the 2ds xl...maybe

Are the glitches / problems occuring with the flashcart removed from the system?

I did the single-system ntrboot method on a 11.6 unit the other day which was a smooth procedure - except for the reflashing of the flashcart. It took a few tries to reflash the cart so it was usable as a regular DS flashcart again, but once I did I found that my 3DS homescreen would freeze with the cart inserted.

On my other 3DS units there'd be no problem with freezing with the cart inserted - which led me to believe that there might have been some weird kind of problem with my main 3DS - so I flashed a back-up of my NAND - which has seemed to solve the problem but basically I think that my flashcart might have had a stability issue (which may well rear its head again at some point).

the problems you describe int he games sound like you have L or R constantly pressed which could be what "freezes" godmode9 or scrolls freeshop really quick. it could be damage to your button or something is stuck there. please check it.

I'm glad it all worked out for you. Some reason I am the only one having this problem with mine. Thanks for the reply :)

I actually ripped apart my 2ds xl and then I broke off the R shoulder button and there are still in-game glitches lol

I noticed in smash bros the block was always active so I would assume the R shoulder button was stuck so I completely snapped it off.

I took apart the 2ds xl by force and now the housing is all messed up. Didn't care at this point because of all those glitches and I can't even access godmode9 or rosalina.

Didn't want to try to sell it to anyone knowing it had faulty hardware so I am stuck with this lemon. First time I ever had a faulty Nintendo console. Thank you guys for the replies, greatly appreciated :)

wait, did you just rip off the plastic?
you know there's an actual button inside that might be glitching, or maybe a shorted trace if moisture got in or something metallic has gotten loose.

anyway cfw shouldn't be forcing a fake button press which is what you're experiencing, so I'm very sure it's a hardware issue. but L or R button.

Ik, sounds weird, but have you tested another SD card? I had a broken sd once, and it caused some other spooky glitches.
Things are weird with and without sd card. Even with sd card still problems . Still freezing in godmode loading screen . Still glitches in game. I think its faulty hardware because these glitches and freezing happen over time. I only had this 2ds xl a few months and only finished ond ga,e and things started getting wierd.....tha ks for the reply bud

Yeah i just bent and broke the back plating until i was able to remove the whole back housing. Just pissed off because i never had a faulty nintendo hardware before and this just happened.

I think you are right that it is a hardware issue . This whole time i thought it coild of been a anti piracy built in the new 2ds xl and was wonderi g if anyond else is having the same problem or try to avoid it. Thanks for the reply bud
