Red is working on a more stable release, at this point I think I'm going to wait on that. Because right now it looks like I have a choice between buying a new PS3 control to get this working or spending my last fun money on a one-day anime convention that's in town today, and if it's anything like last night this could take me all day. That said I will still watch here just in case something happens along that can help me.

I am doing that. I'm also using USB 2.0 (I already tried with 3.0).

I just cannot get it to install a CFW, it always blocks around 70-72% (usually 71%) giving me a Data Corrupted Error. I get that this means the exploit didn't stick, but can't figure out how to improve my odds from there.

I'm even starting to question if my controller in the USB port is interfering since I've tried unplugging it the moment I hit the button (before the exploit is run) and get the same exact results.

I actually have another one. Webman. Download webman mod updater.pkg

It gives you the function of loading ps1, ps2 and ps3 games straight from the xmb without having to go into multiman.
It also gives you other options like controlling system fan speeds, among others.

Rebug has webman already built in so this link is useful for people that stick with Ferrox.

Although removing it seems difficult and i'm trying to figure that out right now, for people that change their minds and want rebug cfw. As you need to remove it, and use the rebug integrated one as its better to use that one on rebug.

Selfhosting shouldnt make a difference in practice.

Boot into recovery and install that way then.

I have no DS3 or SixAxis controller, so I cannot since you can't navigate recovery without one.

i think i read on wololo, that now it is possible for all phats, and the 2xx models of the slims (that came originally with a ofw of 3.56 or below) to run some stuff on a browser and then bam you can install your favorite CFW , is that really the case and so simple now ?

no need to use that rogero downgrader stuff anymore ?
if so then wow, time for me to consider getting a slim i guess.

in order to check for the model, can we not spot that on the package itself ?
it needs to be a 2xxx or lower right ? no 3/4xx correct?

and i believe the systems sold here are mostly way under the latest ofw of 4.82 (or is it already 4.83 now?)
so if they are way below that ofw, can the web browser exploit still be used or would we have to update to the latest ovo

Not quite that simple. 25xx models depend on minimum firmware version. If your ps3 cannot go below 3.6, it cannot use this yet.
