If you can get into the menu like that, it's working. So you mean to say your game plugin isn't working, because NTR definitely is..... Now what game are you using cheats for and where did you get the plugin? Not all of them use the NTR menu for cheats; a lot use a button combination to open a cheat list (usually select) or some don't have a menu at all and work with button presses automatically. YOU need to figure out how your plugin operates.

I only remember X+Y and then choosing cheats or something like that admittedly. It's been a year since I last used NTR. I got them from the FileTrip new plugin list 2.0 and UltraSuMoFramework topic. Select worked for all so far, can't believe I forgot it was pressing select. Thanks!

I have a compatible flashcart for the ntrboot thing, and I flashed it and also installed the files needed for the safeb9sinstall, however when I try to hold power, x, start and select to have he install menu load up, all that happens is that the 2ds xl ( 11.6.0 ) switches on into a regular sleep mode, rather than the b9s install screen. I'm certain that im holding and pressing the buttons correctly and my magnet placement is correct, could anyone help me out here? Thanks.

What flashcart is this? Preferably post a picture of it
How did you flash it? On a DS? DSi? 3DS?
With what software? ds_ntrboot_flasher.nds? or ntrboot_flasher.firm?

I was using a 3ds gold plus -- the one that should have a switch for ntrboot and regular ds use inside it (however, the internal of mine was just plain and had nothing in it - could I have possibly been sold a fake card? I bought it off 3ds-flashcard) using my 3ds with ds_ntrboot_flasher - I was following the walkthrough on 3ds.guide, so I really don't know why this is happening.

And you selected r4igold in ds_ntrboot_flasher?
Honestly, you could have gotten a non-functioning knockoff if it didn't have the switch in it

I'm trying to get my New 3DS XL set up by following a tutorial from youtube

I'm stuck around the 5 minute mark where I have to hold X, Start, Select and Power. I've tried for varying lengths of time, but it never books into the screen that shows on the video. Can anyone offer some advice? I've tried close to 20 times and nothing shows up.

Edit: I tried to include link to the tutorial and picture of my flashcard, but my post gets blocked for being spam when I do :(

Do not use youtube!!! Follow only https://3ds.guide
  • Make sure the console is off when you do it
  • Hold Start, Select, X before you press power
  • Press power briefly, just so the blue light comes on
  • Keep holding the buttons for a couple of seconds, then let go

I have an original 3DS with original FW 4.5. I've installed B9S (using browser hack) and it's on CFW 4.5. Now I'm using it to load Gateway (emuNAND FW 11.2), since all my .3ds games are still on my Gateway card and I don't want to shift to installing .cias on CFW.

Unfortunately this means that I can't connect to the internet on any games because my emuNAND FW is not the latest version. Is there any way of enabling internet connectivity short of updating CFW to the latest version and moving all my games from .3ds on the Gateway card to .cia format?

Yes, you can install certain system cias which are enough to be able to connect to the internet but not enough to make Gateway mode break. Personally I wouldn't do it, it can be hard to foresee the effects, but if you really, really don't want to just use Luma then it could be worth considering. You'll have to Google.

I read the FAQ and i know what it says:
"
Is it safe to update to 11.6?
  • With B9S or A9LH and Luma, yes. "
But i want to be 100% sure before i do this: When i start my 3ds, it boots into the newest Luma with b9str (newest). Can i then just click on system settings and update? It says im on 11.3.0-36E

Im only asking because yesterday i softbricked my 3ds while updating from luma 7.x. Was a rather easy fix i found out but still i do not want to brick my 3ds =/

Yes it's safe. When it says it's safe, it's safe. It would say wait to update otherwise. :/

Yeah but i remember some things from the past where you had to watch out if you are on Emunand/Sysnand, etc. and you could brick your system basically or make hacks unusable for good.

That was the past. Things have changed. You have boot9strap. You are safe to update.

I am thinking of buying a New 3DS XL and an appropriate Flashcart.
I read the reviews about sky3ds+ and the Ace3DS X.
I have some question now:

  1. why is the Ace3DS X much cheaper then the Sky3DS+?
  2. Where are the differences between these cards?
  3. Can I play 3DS roms with both cards or are there any limitations?
  4. Is Nintendo able to block these cards with newer FWs or have both cards any counter measures?

If the console is on 11.3 or lower you don't even need a flashcard. Check https://3ds.guide

You can upgrade to boot9strap/luma and have a dual-boot luma/gateway setup

You need a torrent client like Deluge. There should be a link to download it in the guide somewhere.
thank you so so much everything went fine!!

EDIT: i have a few more questions

1. How do i update Luma from now on?
2. Is it safe to update the system whenever a new firmware comes out or do i have to wait for an upgraded Luma version to make the CFW compatible with the newer software
3. I noticed that my SD card is actually really really slow after the update to Luma 8 - installing a 1GB CIA took ages when it went by really fast before. Is that normal?
4. i think i got banned from online features cause in Sun/Ultra Moon i can't use any online features. is there any way to be unbanned?

Thank you so much again

I have an O3DS with a broken R button that is always detected as pressed. When I was on Luma 6.5 8 months ago everything worked great, but since I updated to Luma 6.6 (7 months ago) my screen goes on for a second and then turns off when I press the power button but the blue light is still on. I've checked and I can get into Recovery mode to update my 3DS. When I try to get onto Luma configuration via pressing Select the screen turns on and displays the settings but I can't go up or down, neither pressing A or Start. I have my NAND backup. I've tried this tutorial on the forum too but I think it's incompatible with my Luma version ([Tutorial/Guide] Using multiple A9LH Payloads without R/L buttons (Setting up BootCTR9 Boot Manager))

What should I do now? Should I update?

Hey I flashed my r4i gold the other day, but I decided not to go through with cfw because I didnt really need it. Is there anyway I can revert the flash without using a 3ds with cfw on it?
