Hacking How are flashcarts and flashcards different? And do any flashcards/carts like r4i gold work in 11.4?

So r4i gold is a flashcart or flashcard? And whatever it is. Other carts/cards which are compatible like r4i gold work to hack 11.4 too right? Even though they are cheap..? I want to save money...

Same thing, and yes. If you want to do ntrboot with the flashcart then look on https://3ds.guide/ntrboot for compatible ones. If to play DS games, just check it says they work on anything over 7.x (anything that works above 7.x will work on every firmware).

Also there seems to be a huge selection of them that work with 11.4. from what I understand nentendo stopped trying to patch Ds flashcarts from working at some point. there are ones out there now setup specifically to install cfw now. There is even one with a switch to install cfw and then to turn back to playing ds games (not needed though you can do it yourself without the switch as I did mine.)

why are cars all different prices when they all drive?

they have different features, and some do not work on newer firmware

edit: assuming that is indeed the card you have until September 3, 2019 before the card locks itself . . . (just roll back your 3ds's date before it gets there)

ntrboot does not require the flashcard to have an sd card . . . but if you want to use the card for ds games you will need a sd card for the flashcard . . .

Hey thank you so much man. I just wanted to ask one more question, which is a little irrelevant to this thread. So I wanted to ask if the graphics of new 3DS xl are better than new 2DS xl. Because I bought new 2DS xl, did a lot of settings and came to know that the resolution of new 3DS xl is higher. Is that sadly really true? Or am I mistaken?... I am feeling down because I am not a rich guy and opened my new 2DS xl few days ago and did a lot of settings and cant return in good price... I am really sensitive about my gadgets in terms of screen quality.. Please satisfy me somehow, you are a really great guy

you may be correct the 3ds family systems have one of either two kinds of screen one model is known as TN and the other as IPS. tn and ips screens are indeed different the pros and cons are a matter of opinion . . .

tn pros
non battery taxing (long battery life for the unit)
tn cons
the color bleeds/fades when looked at from an extreme angle

ips pros
more vibrant colors throughout
no bleeding/fading when viewed from any angle
ips cons
drains battery about 10% faster then tn screens (about %10 per ips screen)

the problem here is all n2ds models are dual tn (and that will not likely change . . . the n2ds is an end of life attempt to sell off the extra hardware . . . that means get the cheap shit out the door)

sidenote 1. n3dsxl models seem to have a better chance at being ips than other models
note 2. if you wanted to you could buy a 3ds look for the screens and if not the desired quality send it to nintendo and they will send you another random unit . . . repeat as needed
note 3. every single hyrule edition n3dsxl i have ever seen (irl) has been dual ips (9 for 9)
