A new Mario movie is in the works

images

It looks like Nintendo has finally decided to greenlight a new Mario movie based on reports from the Wall Street Journal. The deal is said to have been made between Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment, who is known for the Despicable Me franchise and the Secret Life of Pets. The movie will be animated, and so far only one movie is planned (so don't get your hopes up for that Zelda movie just yet). It will be interesting to see how this plays out, especially after how bad 1993's Super Mario Bros. movie went over.

They should just make a sequel to The Wizard.
They would have to make a new Power Glove for the Switch so that they can use the movie to advertise and sell it. Not a bad idea these days, all told. Add motion control stuff to the fingers, add a joycon to the back of the hand, include a 3 ft connection cable with the option of a 6 ft extension. stick a touch screen on the wrist portion for good measure, then make approximately 2 games (one of them being a party game) that actually support the advanced features of it. Can even slate it for holidays 2018 to minimize development, writing, and production time while maximizing hype.

It seems the 2nd coming of the Antichrist is upon us, prepare to shield your friends and family from what is presumed to going to be a horrid and mentally debilitating decease.

I have faith in them. However, I'm still not sure about the Mario movie. Look at how the last Mario movie turned out.
It's a childhood gem for me, so it's in my DVD collection.

"No, Luigi Mario"

I'm pretty sure that everyone who says the movie was garbage either didn't see it or did see it
I loved it. It's still very memorable, and it's quite quotable too. (Plus A-list celebrities... Dennis Hopper, Bob Hoskins, John Leg-waz-ah-mow, etc)

Illumination have some really great animators on their team, but in my opinion, they can't tell a story for their lives. It'll be interesting to see Mario jumping about and flipping with all the budget and flair of a big hollywood animation studio, but I have doubts about the quality of the overall product. We'll just have to see, though.

It's amazing what Illumination does with such a small budget but their movies are usually really bad made-for-family movies that parents can just put on repeat for their children.

I wasn't really a fan of the Rabbids cross-over as well as their interactions with the Mario cast but as I understand that was well-received so maybe it's just me.

>Illumination entertainment.

That's how you know it's going to be bad.
Actually I quite like their earlier work.... But you got to remember that these types of movies are usually produced for younger kids to watch, so you have to look at the films as a child's point of veiw rather than a mature grown-up one

As long as they have a good storyline & the animation is on par then it should be entertaining enough to enjoy..
'Minions' didn't really have much of a storyline imho (group of small creatures looking for someone to boss them around & getting into trouble) but 'Depicable me' did ('evil' scientist trying to get secret from another bad guy, using kids as a ploy fro getting it but ends up having a change of heart & adopting the kids instead)

Great.

I'm not much of a prophet and neither do I own a crystal ball. But here's my prediction.

Maybe, just maybe:

It will involve Peach being kidnapped by Bowser and Mario saving her.
