Okay so I've been gone from the Wii U hacking scene for about 6 months. I came back yesterday and discovered that you can now play gamecube and Wii games (that support classic controller) on the Wii U gamepad. This is amazing. My Wii U already has cfw with coldboot+haxchi installed. I have wup installer gx2 as well. I looked at some youtube videos and there seems to be two ways to play gamecube games. One is with the Nintendont forwarder, which includes putting the games on the SD. The other is installing custom injected gamecube games on the Wii U hard drive. That's the one I want. Since I don't have a big enough memory card to hold all of my gamecube games. So I grabbed paper mario ttyd (yes I still own the original disc) from "that iso site" and installed it with wup installer. But when I tried to play it I got an error saying that nintendont failed to create virtual memory card. Can someone tell me exactly what my SD should look like? Like what files should be where?

I hate to be this guy, but there is a bad ass write up about Nintendont that has been stickied for quite some time.

I read through that. But I didn't find an answer to my problem. Look at this short video:

That's why I'm trying to do. But when I launch a game, I get an error saying failed to create virtual memory card. Then the system reboots back to the Wii U menu.

never heard of that error, but iirc, gamecube saves go in the savegames folder on the root of the sd card. you might try using the dolphin emulator to create a "raw" memory card. that's how they'll be saved as.

Sigh. It's still not working. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll post a video of what happens when I try starting a game. As well as what my memory card looks like.

You need the nincfg.bin on the root of your sd card.
This, indeed. I ran into exactly the same problem, and putting this file there solved it. You can have mine if you want (see attachment), but it's probably safer to get your own one*. The latest script by @KhaderWelaye (linky...3.0.1 onward) also does have this option: in Nintendont SD card menu, you can get the latest nintendont version and generate a nintendont config to your liking (enable memcard emulation and wiiu widescreen). :)

*mine might work, but I'm forcing PAL, which probably won't do well on US wiius. :)

Hello. Yes, I already have the nincfg in my SD card. Here I made a couple videos of my problem.

That's what happens when I try to launch a gamecube game.

There are the files on my memory card.

is that normal your iplusa and segaboot are inside the wiiu folder?
maybe you wanted to disable/prevent nintendont from loading them, if yes then it's fine.
if you want nintendont to use them, you need them on the root of your SD card.

but it's not your issue, it's just something I noticed.

Failed to create memory card :
maybe your SD card is write protected?
or you try to load the IPL, but it can't be found, so it resets? (instead of skipping, I think it should skip)

if your nincfg.bin settings are wrong, maybe it couldn't read where the games are located (injected = read from disc).
can you check your nintendont settings ? what inside your nincfg.bin file?

if you don't know how, you can press B when nintendont boots to prevent autoboot, then press B to access the options and see which options are set.

Dude, you were exactly right. The problem is that the little switch on my SD card was set to lock. That's why it wouldn't work. I feel so dumb. It's always something simple. Lol. Thanks man. It's working now.
