Hacking 11.2 + Luma + GW. Where to go from here?

Finding myself at a bit of a cross-roads here.

My N3DS currently has the above combination. Why? CFW (duh), because I've had GW way back, and have hung on to it because:

• .3ds ROMs support
• Games that simply don't show up on freeshop/that other site/et al being able to be had this way, at least
• Proper cheat support
• Up until very recently, I didn't really have a 3DS cart game to occupy the card slot

Problem is, I'm wanting to start playing some of the newer games that have come out recently. To do that, means needing to be able to update, presumably. Which in turn, requires B9S, which breaks A9LH payloads. And that's where it'd break the luma+Gateway setup. Don't have another 3DS at this time I could give it to in the meantime. So, trying to decide what to do. I for one have never been able to figure out NTR, which I at first wanted to get going to be able to stream footage from the handheld for streaming on Twitch. Now I'm being told that it can handle cheats for games, but again, nobody or anything I could find explains how the hell to do any of this. And my google fu seems to actively hide usable results on top of that.

If not for GW back in the day, CFW as you so enjoy it wouldn't even exist. Mine has been working pretty damn flawlessly since it arrived... ironic, considering the site I bought it from did get de-listed from GBAtemp later.
I'm posting this hoping for mature and level-headed responses, not a bunch of crybaby drama.

AFAIK, you can update in A9LH, just can't update Luma. I say update to B9S. Follow the guide, it's fairly simple and you get the newest CFW and far more control over your 3DS.

Also A9LH is replaced by B9S, not broken.

Not sure the perks of Gateway at this point.

What do I do for cheats? for .3ds games? to actually get wifi streaming to work? All I keep finding on this and other forums is "use NTR", but NTR doesn't do squat, and nothing I've been able to find explains how any of it works.

I can't find any way to get or see any footage from it on any PC, and no key combination has been able to get me a cheat menu, or where I can search for or create my own codes with. To run, it's explained on the guide I posted on my last post. You must run ntr before you launch the game.

Also, not sure it works with Gateway roms, or if you have to have a cartridge or installed.

Did you really only make this thread to argue with people?
I going to be honest and simply say that if you aren’t willing to give up those two features, then just stay on Gateway. NTR cheats aren’t as good and there’s no .3DS loader for CFWs.
Personally I don’t think those two features are worth being so out of date. Coupled with the fact that the Gateway team has basically abandoned the cart in favor of their new cart (which they also delayed.)

GodMode9 can convert .3ds ROMs to installable .cia files. It takes time but is easy to do.

NTR can use Gateshark codes as of early 2016, you don’t have to search for the codes yourself with a computer if you just want to use already-found codes. My attitude? Well, excuse me for wanting things to work like they're played up to be.

I don't have the time to be able to sit around and spend so many hours a day to work on this. As it is, I don't have as much time as I'd like to work on this. Depressingly, the only reason I'm continuing to fidget with trying to stream this way, is because I know I don't have the means to get the hardware capture card modded onto the console. Or, with my luck, I do get it and even if it is successfully installed, something terrible happens like it getting dunked in water and I'm back to square one.

I went and followed your advice and posted on the thread for streaming. I posted the model, the NTR steps taken, and the error message(s) I'm getting. All I get is "try again, lol". Already reinstalled Python. Windows 10 won't let me install .net 4 because it insists it has something newer already. Downloaded newest build of that NitroViewer, but all I get besides the errors is even when it's supposed to launch a new window (presumably) is nothing on the screen. Selecting anything but NTR 3.6 on the selector on the 3DS homebrew itself, won't even get a response from NitroViewer, from what little I'd been able to do at this step.

You say that NTR can use gateshark codes, but where? How? Everything I've read up to this point, implies NTR can't even reach the same addresses. Where am I supposed to put the cheat files? Context. Context. Context. As it is, the reason I'm asking about this is because I don't know where to proceed from here. Already got more than enough on my proverbial plate to be told that I gotta buy another 2/3DS on top of that.

For your gateshark codes, there is https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-gateshark2ntr.436504/ that goes over how to convert these codes for you. There is also https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-ntr-plugin-manager.457613/ within the OP for converting codes aswell for you. The setup of the code files is fairly simple. You enter it as such

Within a text file. It will ask for you to enter the file and convert it to a .plg file to use.

Don't listen to the gate hate, Here's what to do. Update to B9S. Use bootctr9 to boot NTR, Boot into Luma in 11.6 SYS Nand or boot a converted payload and run GW! Then you can selectively update the correct titles on your EMU NAND to make the newest games work and restore online in GW mode! Now you can use your Gateway. It's not useless. And everyone here forgot something that GW can do, utilize a second SD.... Just know what you are doing in GW mode.

When you are done you'll have B9S Luma on your 11.6 system nand, GW running on a 11.2/11.6 hybrid EMU NAND with full functionality on both. Don't run GW in System Nand mode. Forget those GateHaters! Don't listen to them. It's like they got molested by Gateway or something. Sad and lame. None of their business what you put in your slot I bet they put lots of nasty things places I wouldn't... MY GATEWAY ENABLED SYSTEM CAN DO THINGS YOUR NON GATEWAY SYSTEM CANT

Either stop using Gateway and move on to a CFW+NTR or keep using Gateway. You already flat stated your reasons for using Gateways and those reasons can't be fully replicated with other CFWs. So basically we can't help you if you aren't willing to stop using Gateway. You are were the one who dismissed the help from the start and thus gave us no other options before we could even reply.

Yes, his attitude SUCKS. It always does. He tried to rip me off in the past too. But most of your attitudes are worse as soon as Gateway comes up. Furthermore, none of you seem to be up to date on the subject. The answer on this board to any "How do I such and such with Gateway?" thread is always "Throw away the gateway and use CFW ONLY! You can get Gateway and Luma running on the same system. And NTR. There is no need to CHOOSE.

• install B9S using the guide. Also updating your SYSTEM NAND <- Previously linked.
  
• Get the A9LH payload converted to B9S <- Previously linked.
  
• Install bootCTR9,set up the b9s payload to run using the L button at boot. <- Previously linked.
  
• Selectively update your EMUNAND to a 11.6/11.4 hybrid to play current games and allow online access in Gateway mode. <- Previously linked.

As far as NTR cheats go..

• Use "Boot NTR Selector" <--- I linked earlier but here https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-bootntr-selector.432911/ This will install and boot NTR mode. Once in NTR mode X+Y triggers NTR menu
• PLENTY tutorials on the cheats in NTR mode. Use a search.
• To stream you need to use only a certain build on NTR, need a program to catch the stream on the PC. (Kit-Kat and a bunch of other ones exist.) There are a TON of tutorials Read one

codezre0, as much as I hate people who make new threads instead of doing a search, I hate irrational opinions being unfairly shoved down our throats more. So I decided to help you. All of this information is available to you already using a simple search. And, IF you want to start posting your questions here without researching first, then at least stop being a jerk about it. Most of what you know is wrong and out of date obviously. You need to listen to learn.

That goes to a lot of the Tempers. If you don't like Gateway STFU, nobody cares. Go to a different thread. Stop impeding progress and propigating your communist agenda. No one wants to be like you.
