I'm quite newbie with Wii U (I bought a used one a few weeks ago).

Do I need a particular hack BEFORE using lordelan's tutorial? What I mean is.. I have a 5.5.2 and I installed Haxchii on it. But I didn't go further. It means all I was able to install were games I downloaded from uTikDownloadHelper. I skipped the CFW Booter stuff because of the risk someone might delete it in my home (I know it sounds weird but my brother has a handicap and he's awesome at playing Mario BUT sometimes he does play around the Wii U icons and do bad stuff like deleting my saved games.. You see?

TLDR : I have no CFW Booter but I have Haxchii, can I do what lordelan said and have a PuyoPuyo icon on my Wii U menu?
How does your SD:\haxchi\config.txt look like?
I'd assume that you're able to launch the Haxchi CFW which is enough to go on with my steps.

Edit: Apart from the WUP Installer step, everything I wrote takes place on a PC so you could do that nevertheless.
If installation fails with WUP Installer, nothing bad or bricky happens to your console. It just gives you an error.
In that case you're not running a CFW while installing stuff. Do so and repeat the installation step.

Thank you very much! I can't wait to try it out. I was convinced I needed something more than the Haxchii channel. I see many guides with something extra that seem to allow the installation of homebrew apps directly on the wii u menu. It looked dangerous to me so I sticked with Haxchii only. Whenever I want to launch "Homebrew app channel" I click on Haxchii and that's it. From there, I can start Loadiine and launch Puyo Puyo. I would love to launch it directly from the Wii U menu!

So is that correct? :
  1. Download Puyo Puyo Tetris with utikdownloadhelper, switch to japan region and download Puyo Puyo Tetris
  2. Unpack it to code/content/meta with CDencrypt
  3. Replace with the translated files
  4. Pack with NUS Packer
  5. Overwrite the downloaded files from Wii U USB Helper with the patched once that have been packed with NUS Packer
  6. Install what you have now with WUP Installer
I heard somewhere it is dangerous to install a game from another region. I guess it was a lie because you say I can do it on my Wii U. The video I saw said it would brick the Wii U if I did it. Anyone have a photo of Puyo Puyo Tetris installed on their USA region Wii U?

Here we go again with that myth that out of region games will brick the wiiu. Answer me this if it was true why would the devs of mocha and haxchi have bothered then to make the two CFWs region free if the end result would be a brick???

Well, I don't know much but I figured I was safe within Loadiine but not outside of it. I guess it doesn't make senses.. :P
Thanks for the clarification! I love you! I'll let you know if I get it to work

Yes but why using utikdownloadhelper instead of Wii U USB Helper in step 1? :P

Could have also been done with FunKiiU. At the end of the day, they all do the same thing... download games from NUS. Personal preferences.
Yep absolutely correct.
I was just confused because he was about to use Wii U USB Helper in the last step but another tool in the first step. :P

hello,

first i want to thank anyone involved in this project!

i'm not able to get it work :(

- first i extracted wiiu disc wud with wud2app, overwrode the translated files and packed it with nuspacker. i was not able to install it with wup installer, installation stopps at 509mb.

- i tried steps 1-6 via wii u usb helper, cdencrypt, nus packer, file overwride... wup installer stops installation at 509mb too. i did 1-6 several times for some hours, so i'm pretty sure that i didn't made any mistake

maybe someone has the same issue?

attached you see the files created by nus packer and the downloaded ones, which i copied together. maybe someone can see if it looks correct or not?

thank you!

(it seems so easy and i can't imagine whats wrong. i also tried ftpiiu everywhere, but with haxchi cfw i can't reach the final target folders. at first look it's a common ftpiiu problem with haxchi.)

I tested the JPN PuyoPuyo (without translation) I got from utikdownloadhelper. WUP installer reached 100% but I can't run the game (it says I cannot run games from another region). The only way I can launch the game so far is with Loadiine...

You need to run Haxchi, Mocha or some sort of simple sig patcher before.

Is there any editing that we need to do for the update data, v32, or just the base game?

You can also tell Wii U USB Helper to unpack the files, skipping the need for CDecrypt, which has been causing issues according to the NUSPacker thread. Also, I have the JPN version installed on my USA Wii U. As soon as I get my question about NUSPacker answered, I'll have it installed with the translations!

I'm not sure whether they patched the updated or the base game.
In case they patched the newest version you gotta unpack both (game and update), copy and overwrite the update stuff over the game folders, overwrite it with the patched files and pack again with NUS Packer.

Edit: Another easy solution btw for installing these patches is installing the JPN version to the homescreen, launch Haxchi or Mocha und copy over the patch files with ftpiiu. Should be the easiest way as you won't have to deal with wrong packing/unpacking.

Thanks for the reply. I runned Haxchii, then I went back to the Mii Creation screen by pressing the home button (the only way to get out of my Haxchii channel). But the game still didn't launch.. I'll google about the 2 other apps you talked about. They might be the solution to my problem.

I just wasn't sure if, when using NUSPacker, all we needed to give it key wise was the Wii common key, or if we needed to also give each title their title key as -encryptwith.

Hi people.
I've been following this since Flurry started, sad thing she dropped, i bet she have a good reason for it.
I hope she's okay.

I also created this account just to say how grateful i am.
Although i know a little bit of japanese just enough to know where going on the menus,
I know that are people who don't.

Zadanlavey, i admire you man! I bet you've got a good reason to dissapear too, i really hope you're okay.
Thanks InquisitionImplied for his awesome editing skills, are you a bot man?
Thanks Khar00f for providing screenshots and stuff from the USA version of the game. Ace212 too.
Even if this seems as a unfinished job but its really good so far.

I managed to unpack, exchange the edited archives, repack and install on my wii u now,
Although i'm a noob and take me +20h! LMAO
(I need to shut eye soon...My eyes are dry)

Seeing has i don't could find this somewhere i think I'll upload and share this work with others.
something like "PUYOPUYO TETRIS WII U (J) ENG MENU PATCH [WUP].7z"
But worry not I'll provide a link for this thread so people can find if the finished project on the near future before using the incomplete one.

I really want to see more of you guys. o/
