Hacking How to check if my recently purchased 3DS is banned?

So guys, I bought a used 3DS, the kid was great, I got a deal out of it and the console was almost brand new. Sadly it is on the latest firmware.

That is not a problem because in my city there is a guy who hacks 3DS's,etc. Problem is, how do I know if the console is banned or not? I don't have a game that I could use online, I have Zelda Ocarina, cartridge version and that's it.

I mean I am already screwed if I was sold a banned 3DS, but I just want to check BEFORE I take it to the guy who makes the hacking process, or HE is going to screw me over. Does that make sense?

If you can got to eshop, you are not banned (at least I think)

Ok, I just got the console, I will create a new NNID and then what? Obviously I wont have friends, it wouldn't allow me to enter the friend list anyways are you saying? Cheers and thanks guys

I can get into the place where it shows me I have 0 friends, I can also add friends if I wanted to. Would this confirm I am not on a banned console? Thanks.

If the item of the friend list with your Mii (2nd page) lights up orange and says online, you're not banned from the multiplayer servers in general

I think you need to add a friend to check but am not sure

Yes, it says online at the right side of my Mii, it's like a stamp. Do you recommend adding friends for a console that I might CFW in the future? Or it doesn't matter? Thanks though, you all have been of great help. You guys are great! Thanks Ryccardo too! It was what I needed to know!

Don't take it to some guy to mod it. Do it yourself. It is so easy. The most it will cost is $20 for the ntrboot-capable flashcart and then you can also play DS games. Unless he is doing it for free then don't let him do it.

But don't you need another CFW 3DS to do it? I mean my console version is 11.6. Cheers.

If you can create and link a NNID to the system then it should be alright. Other bans can be bypassed, but the Pokemon ban last year is the one that stops NNIDs from working on the system.

theres many ways of getting custom firmware on each version just scroll down on this page and select your 3ds/2ds model then select what modding method works for you https://3ds.guide/get-started

It won't work, it would if you have a second hacked 3DS, I flashed mine using a modified flasher with R4i SDHC support but it needs Luma to be flashed

Don't buy it used if you want to avoid bans


If you want to see if your banned, use eshop and use something that is NNID related such as Pokemon Bank
