How to Transfer Pokemon from ROM Files to Pokemon (Ultra) Sun & Moon

How to Transfer Pokemon from ROM Files to Pokemon (Ultra) Sun & Moon by DuoForce

Please be sure that no Pokemon are glitched or it will cause issues.
Hello everyone, I wanted to make this Tutorial before Gold and Silver releases on the 3DS Virtual Console. Before I begin with my Tutorial, I will list the tools you need for the Tutorial. This can be done with any Pokemon game from Gen 1 - 5

  • PKHeX
  • JKSV
  • A 3DS with CFW
  • A way for your PC to read SD cards

First, you want to open up your Rom save (should be the ROM name with a .sav at the end) file with PKHeX, then you want to make a temporary folder and drag and drop every Pokemon there. Once that is done you're gonna want to go over to your 3DS and extract your Sun/Moon save file with PKHeX

Use JKSV to extract the save file to your SD Card, then insert your SD Card into your computer and locate the save (It will be in the JKSV folder in the root of your SD Card). Then drag your (Ultra) Sun or Moon Save File into PKHeX, you're then going to want to drag and drop the folder you made with all the Pokemon from your Gen 1 - 3 ROM file into PKHeX, then all the Pokemon will be in your game. You then just need to export the save to your SD Card and import the save with JKSV.

And BOOM! Your old Pokemon are now in your game (:

I understand you want to help, but I have to ask, did this REALLY need an explanation?

Just want to put this out there that he's a known troll around here... if that means anything...
How does a known troll only have 100 posts? I have no clue who this guy is.

So rating the number of posts determines whether we are trolls now? I can't decided which is worst ignorance or accused trolls that help

You should let people know they need the newest PK Hex for pk2 integration...and they'll probably need another PK Hex update for US/UM.

I know transfers get the GB VC icon, but have you tried using these transfers online? I was in Battle Spot with my Gen 2 team and enjoyed a handful of errors. Other people are saying it (Battle Spot) is buggy with detection.

"well, about my Zapdos that cannot enter in battle.... just now entered just fine...... i think that the battle spot is just buggy and just ban pokemon from previous interation at random......"-ventox

Gen 2 transfers aren't possible yet since Pokemon Bank won't add support until Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon release

You should update OP to tell people that. It's likely that if you're using PKHeX, you aren't using Pokebank and wouldn't know. And I guess let people know about updating PKHeX.

You could also add an update about Gen 3 saves being a special case--the saves have to be in a different kb (128kb I think?)

You might be able to add "For more help, check projectpokemon.org." at the bottom of your post to clarify certain issues, but do an in-depth cover on things that might be a little confusing to a Joe Blough.

Hopefully people will scroll through the pages and see this
It's probable, but OP might want to update this thread when PKHeX gets updated; no one knows how US/UM works yet. There's also the problem of pokebank not being updated, so gen 2 can't be used online, but can be transferred.

I think this thread would be more useful if OP adds links, tips, and precautions.

But what if they have a better system to check for edits? I don't know if you thought I meant something else, but I'm prepared for the worst.

You still should add a bit for precautions, tips, and links.
It'd be very hard to check if you hacked your save, SM already has that in place and boy it does nothing as long as you don't edit trainer info
