ehh, I would have to highly recommend going for a switch for minecraft rather than a 3ds :/
I mean in general, old3DS doesn't really cut it anymore
So many games are just starting to run like crap on the old3DS

tbh, nintendo needs to stop the 3ds, and not for the switch to simply take it's place, but for them to release a true next handheld system of theres, the power of the 3ds and n3ds just arn't cutting it anymore, it's the res that's starting to kill me though

I'm actually excited to see the N3DS-only games finally trickle out. Now we have 2, plus SNES VC.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Why do you guys even care. It runs like shit, it looks like shit, it plays like shit, everything about this port is absolute shit.
I don't care that the draw distance sucks... The controls feel great and I can play Minecraft on my N3DS. I love it.

So I'm guessing there is no way to play Minecraft on an old 3DS... pity!

I was pretty amped to see this... until I realized it isn't O3DS compatible.

So you werent able to play this game on PC, WiiU, PS3, PS4, iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Xbox one, Vita, Switch, Apple TV, Amazon TV, Windows phone, Linux, Mac OS or Raspberry Pi?

Minecraft on the Vita is pretty good. It's cheaper than a Switch if all you want is portable Minecraft.
I really like it on the vita. It's too bad though that there's a "build delay". It's just always bugged me. But overall it was fantastic port-wise. Digging the console-esque quality of the switch version though. Proper anti-aliasing, better distance, more blocks, etc.

Anyone else find it comical that the 3DS version has bigger worlds than the Vita one? I mean, I understand why, but it's just funny to me.

Tried it. If you have it on literally any other system on the planet then I suggest playing it on that because it's bad; horrendously so. Everything from the controls to the view distance to the FPS. It just -chugs-. Maybe they'll fix it in a future update but even an ancient android/iphone from several years ago can play minecraft pocket edition better than this.

Who cares about Minecrap?

no pls do not hurt me

probably the old 3ds isn't too powerful to run minecraft on old 3ds, like Xenoblade 3D did, like the ram, the c stick, etc...

A lotta people care about it. Don't be a "Call of Duty Hater" type bandwagonner. They're obnoxious as fuck and find it cool to hate on call of duty. Don't be that guy, with Minecraft.

Exactly. If you own any system or even a low end PC you will have a far better experience then the n3ds version. I gave it about 6 hours before i quit and deleted it. I laugh at the pocket edition, or the pi edition. But this is truly the worst edition out there. But its just another way to sucker people into spending 30 bucks. When the ps3/ps4/vita was only 20. And i feel bad for the kids who get this game from there parents who don't know any better. Overpriced garbage is all this is. Now if there comes a time, when the game is built right, modded to be more like any other version. Then maybe there will be hope, be the controls are not optimized in any way to enjoy this game.

Yeah, just take a last-year mobile platform, slap on a lower resolution screen to get up the framerates and put the 3ds OS on the metal, it would be $50 like all those chinese phones. - wait it's the switch.

Anyway, any old android is a cheap good way to play minecraft, especially when crossplay rolls out soon. I think we have about three phones without sim just used as small tablets (and three tablets not used at all curiously)

The connection to a real console and a real game-cartridge and what a kid can create on that can't be beat by the everchanging mobile platforms and multiplayer events,
exchanging saved worlds between 3ds's and joining up to play multiplayer could really be a thing if they add that as a feature once the game dont' change too much.
Also the special edition minecraft 3ds would really be nice.

I meant a dual screen system, what kind of tangent are you going on? I meant the next iteration of the ds line

they could of had this on the old 3ds if it was made from scratch cube creator is on the old 3ds. but this is a port . if they made an engine for the 3ds they could have made it look worse on the old 3ds and have smaller world sizers but still run.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
