Seems more

likely that he officially bought the game but skipped the check by launching it directly on FBI. I dunno if it would actually work if other user gets the titlekey.
He was definitely playing the legit VC games from the eShop. He even tried to open the games first in the video before launching FBI to prove it. The message that showed up was, "Thank you for your pre-purchase! Now, please wait for this product to be released", albeit in the language that Traiver has his 3DS set to.
We've had working custom injects for over a year.
But that's not what this is thread is about. This thread is about playing the official VC games from the eShop early. While there's not much of a difference, in terms of how the games came to be on our systems, whether it be from custom VC injects to actually being from the eShop, there is a difference. :/

I just wish he didn't take down the video proof of it working though. I tried to follow his exact steps on my system and it didn't work. It only rebooted my system after hitting "Launch Title" in FBI.

"The good thing is that its easily to change the file inside the .cia because it's just a .gbc file named as .bin placed in the game. So if the english versions won't dumped until release date (which I do not belive), you can simply extract the game on pc and swap the .gbc files."

"The game has not been officially released yet. We're still a week away from getting the game.

This is just the "pre-load" of the game which is basically the game itself but minus the title key.

Without this title key, this game will simply not run."--from that site.

I guess you can do it with magic.

Close but the wrong words end up telling the wrong story: we have titlekeys (which are enough to install it, exactly what happens in a digital preorder) but the code.bin and romfs (required to run or extract the game, outside of the icon/banner/manual) are also protected by the seed, which is downloadable from the eShop servers by anyone but only after launch

---

Dumpable icon + banner + titleid
+
already dumped from GRBY emulator
+
already dumped roms + patches
=
profit

Though he could just add the ExeFS/RomFS from a VC inject instead.

I was quoting what Traiver said was possible (swapping files), with a quote from another user (dothackjhe) as to what will not work and why.

I believe in magic :creep:
