Hi,
so depending on what Nintendo announces today and if it looks like some more 3DS gaming fun, I thought of switching to a N3DS XL with dual IPS just to have a better gaming experience. I have a N3DS with b9s, CFW and so on and it runs fine, but the displays are not IPS and I loooove myself some nice IPS display.

So, how would one go for switching from that CFW'd N3DS to a "virgin" N3DS XL? Obviously set that up for CFW first, that is clear. I have an old AK2i, did not check if it's ntrboot compatible since I didn't need that, but probably I reckon. How would I go on then? Is it just as easy as setting both devices on the same fw level, same cfw and just doing a system transfer via system settings, or do I have to do it manually with Sysnand backup from the old one and restore to the new one? I mean I could also just reinstall all the games and backup/restore the saves manually, but if there's an easier way I'll surely take it.

Thanks!

That should work, yeah. Can I just do that from one console to another? I never switched cfw'd consoles before.
It would be no big deal to just install my games anew on the other hand, I don't have too much installed. Then just transfer saves with JKSV and be done.
But if there's an easier way that lets me just pop in my old microsd into the new one and continue on, I'd be happy to hear.

You should go through official System Transfer, as it'll also transfer your NNID (a CTR transfer won't).
With NtrBootHax it'll be quick and easy to CFW the new console, even if it's on the latest update.

So CFW the new console, and then do system transfer and be done?

It just won't show up on your homemenu until you install the ticket (which you can't do until you get CFW).
I am confused now. In the other thread you told me that anything without a legit ticket will not be transferred as the system transfer is done over the web. And here you clearly say it does work when both consoles are in cfw. What now?

The data is always moved. However, it will not show up unless you install the ticket for it. Only owned titles have their tickets moved, so they will always show up in the home menu right away. You can only install tickets if the console has CFW. Hope that clears it up. Any further questions feel free to ask :-)

Ah, yes. The way you worded it it sounded like non-legit installations will always be lost.
Welp, I don't have much stuff on it anyway so if I decide to move to the new console, I might as well just set everything up fresh. Good opportunity to clean out the sd anyway.
