Tiny SD card has more storage than my whole computer

Why do they even make computers with 128GB hard drives when memory is so cheap? My 128GB SD card only cost about $50, so it shouldn't add much if anything to the price. I really wouldn't mind the tablet being a mm or two thicker if it meant having twice or four times the space.

Anyways, these "cheaper, better" prices are more aimed at people who are not as tech savvy. They see a cheap computer, they buy it. Simple

In a word: longevity (also performance). Constantly reading and writing to an SD card will wear it out exceptionally quickly (in comparison to modern SSDs, which ideally last a lifetime). It's not about memory itself being cheap or not, but different storage media being used for different applications.

SD cards are cheap because they are a lot less reliable than a hard drive.

SSDs have a lot more fail safes in place to prevent data corruption. SD cards are fast and dirty (and cheap) file storage.
