You think by the time Android gets to you that you're using something open source? Even if you are using only nexus devices they are still running closed source google apps, loggers and spyware. Android may have open source roots sure but by the time Android devices reach consumers hands they are pretty bloated with propriety software.

It's actually pretty easy to port apps to Windows Phone using Microsofts SDK.

Phones itself aren't bad, they're actually pretty good but lack the horse power, that's why most devs are leaving WP platform.
