Or something like that. Every one of my Nintendo 3DS consoles that has CFW installed on it, or used CFW in the past, ends up having this problem. It's either Download Play or some other app, like Web Browser, depending on the exploit that was used. Worst of all, it continues to be logged in Daily Records in the Play Time section, even when the 3DS is turned off completely.

Now, I was wondering. How can I fix this issue in the activity log? I know there's Cthulhu, but I'm not even sure how I can use this software to stop Download Play being logged into the Activity Log. How can I fix it so that normal apps will always be logged in the Play Time section of Daily Records, rather than just one app all the time?

It happens to my main console (2DS XL). I started off with an N3DS on Gateway with downgraded MSET. I changed it to A9LH and eventually transferred to this one. Ever since I changed it to A9LH it has shown System Settings as being used 24/7. Chuthulu can't fix it sadly, it can't edit the right part of the save file.

Weirdly I had that problem in the past and after nuking my activity log completely with Cthulu I don't have it anymore...Now my daily activity shows what I am playing and not system settings 24/7...of course I lost all my previous game activity from 2012 to 31 May 2017 but now I don't have 9999h of System settings anymore...

It's possible that an earlier version of Luma3DS might've caused this issue, or even Gateway when it was being used. Somehow it might've messed up the Activity Log data, making it no longer register the applications in the Daily Records and Play Time data, and instead continuously keep logging the last application (before using CFW) every hour after the CFW was used.

We need a fix to this solution, without having to delete any Activity Log data.

Someone else seems to have an identical issue with the Daily Records that has logged one app for every hour counting up to the next 3 years or so. This person seems to claim that it happened after the battery was taken out of the system, but it seems unlikely though. If someone can reproduce this issue, that would be great!

While I'm still not sure on what caused it, I'll have to do some research onto my Aqua Blue 3DS's backed up NAND, and see if there's any mass logging of unusual data spanning from random points in time in the Activity Log. While I may take a guess that it may be caused by changing the emuNAND's system clock while using Gateway firmware in the early days when we used to use it, but I really don't know yet.

Is this happening only if you save settings on the download and play app?

I mean you patch the app and then will launch HL even if you turn off the device.

Or happens too when you did not patch it permanently?

Okay, an update. I've managed to restore the data from the Activity Log from an earlier backup. And it has reduced the amount of time that the Download Play app has been used for, from three years to roughly just 26 hours. And Activity Log is working as it should be now

From what I've noticed, this seemed to have happened during the time I was using Soundhax on that particular 3DS system. It's possible that putting the old Homebrew Launcher in sleep mode or leaving it on for hours could've messed with the Microcontroller Unit (MCU) and caused the amount of time from say... 38 hours or so became 38 MONTHS instead.

But it seems that something did indeed mess with the MCU while using Homebrew Launcher. I'm not even sure if it was caused by Homebrew Launcher, or Soundhax itself. It kind of happened at the end of December last year as well.

Anyways, my problem has been fixed.

It happens when it's not patched permanently as well. Like I said, it's likely to have been caused by either Soundhax or Homebrew Launcher.

What do you mean? It's more problems than we need?
As in it's not really a hindrance except to those that actually track play times for whatever reason, and is more of an aesthetic problem. Ever since the Wii came out I've always thought that the Activity Log was such a redundant feature.

I like my Activity Log. It links the history of all my different consoles together right back to my first one. Having System Settings being played 24/7 ruins it a bit. It's probably important to more people than you think.

But would it be something you'd want if it never existed to begin with?

Yeah. This is how I gauge the practicality of a feature. Basically, if you didn't have it to begin with, would you ever know that that's a feature you'd want and that others would push for?
By the same reasoning you could say any problems with the eShop, Web browser, camera, etc are all superfluous :-/

Well, they technically are. Maybe not the eShop as that's sort of a core necessity, but the web browser, camera, notes, music player, pedometer, etc. pretty much are. If more games incorporated the use of some of these I'd have a different opinion, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of people (even kids) whip out their phones and tablets for these things.
