Try a different region of the game, if it doesn't work, is just incompatible with virtual console, not all game was meant to run on it, in this case, use a emulator, retroarch emulators would be preferred if a stand alone one doesn't.

Haven't played my Emerald injection in awhile, heard there was an issue that would show up late-game rendering it unplayable. Was that ever addressed?

It should be possible to make with the GBC injector or by waiting for the all-in-one injector that is in development. I’d just grab the new color title screen image from romhacking or any of the news sites covering its release to use for the icon. If you aren’t sure what to type in, just load the original ROM into the GB injector and write down the information it fills in.

Unfortunately, it is against the rules for anyone to share a CIA containing the game with you here.

Can confirm, I injected it as a GBC VC injects with the NSUI beta, and it looks and works great!

However JP Pokemon Yellow doesn't work with the Beta trust me I've tried injecting colour into it I mean.
