you can try d2x cIOS installer 2.2 instead of 3.1
even if I never encounter errors with latest 3.1, I hears it has some issues (and that's why v2.2 was used as base for vWii d2x installer version).

you have the chance that googlecode is still online, in archived mode :
https://code.google.com/archive/p/d2x-cios-installer/downloads
you can find the installer v2.2 there.

replace the dol and it should be enough.
don't replace the ciosmap.xml or you'll have only d2x v6 available.
Thanks, I'll try that and hopefully that's the problem.
As for knowing if my Wii is converted, would you know anything about that?

I don't give a lot of hope in using a different d2x installer because everybody else don't have issue using it, but like I said I don't remember why 3.3 was said buggy.

for the console origin, I guess you can check with the serial number. the start of the serial should indicate which country it's from.
LK = korea, LE=EUR, LU=USA, etc.
but there are exception, and different codes. you can find your here :

KEM is listed as Spain/Italy/UK, so it's originally an EUR console and it hasn't been region changed.

still no idea why ocarina crashes.

Did you try Wiiflow or CFGLoader with Ocarina ?
not just to dump the game, but to see if the problem is Ocarina from USBGX only

Try and narrow...

Don't wait for me to tell you to try things to do it.
try and narrow

Could it be my SD Card? Im using a Verbatim 16GB SDHC class 4
don't know, try and see? narrow all you can. I feel like I'm repeating myself. don't wait for me to tell you to try to do it.

i was using was 3.1
I know, that's what I said on previous page, and why I told you to try 2.2 instead of 3.1 (as you wanted a different version).
But, I'm not betting on cIOS installer version being the problem here, your problem is not the way IOS are installed. either it's installed either it's not. the IOS system file extracted from the WAD to your console is exactly the same whatever the installer you use.

Ocarina runs on Wiiflow on my USB stick. I'll use Wiiflow for games+ocarina and CFGLOADER for backing them up. I guess I'll just try different things with the HDD. Thanks for the help Cyan

Hey Cyan I was wondering if you could help me out. I tried using Ocarina with USB Loader GX and ever since I tried to load a cheat and launch the game it went to black screen. Now even if I have Ocarina turned off the games will still not load I only get a black screen every time and wiimote disconnects. I have installed d2x and still having the same issue. I tried cfg usb loader and it also freezes when I try and run a game. I have tried two different usb flash drives and a hard drive and they all do the same thing. I can see they are recognized and can see the games and everything on both usb loader gx and cfg usb loader but when I try and load the game it either freezes or goes to a black screen. I used wii save manager and have my drives formatted to fat 32. I dont know what else to do. I've gone through so many forums now and nothing has worked.

d2x v8 final base 57 (or of you are on vWii, v10 r52 base 57) has the best compatibility.
you already have it in slot250, so base56 for the few games which doesn't work with base57

you'll get the "common" setup :
249 : base56
250 : base57

then, set your loader to use slot250 by default for loader and games.
I know only Spiro's USB accessory which requires base56, there are maybe other games.

Okay so I updated ios 249 to the recommended d2x both of you just mentiond and i'm still having the same issue. It will read games but crashes when I try and play them when loading off slot 249 in loader. I tried changing loader settings to slot 250 and it stays stuck at Loading... Loading cIOS 250

Did I do it right?

edit: redacted.
sorry, wrote before reading all your post :P

yes, it's done right.
at least, it's one possible cause you removed. now you can focus on something else.
to me, all your tests tend to tell that the issue is your HDD. (except ocarina shouldn't affect HDD, so that's why I said previously it's not logic)
