Atlus to self-publish games in Europe

Atlus games have always faced a slight delay, in terms of making their way to Europe territories, with numerous titles facing large delay gaps between them and North America. To alleviae this, Atlus and SEGA had partnered up with NIS America and Deep Silver in order to speed up European releases, or at least give them a chance to be published. However, as of today, Atlus has announced that they will now be self publishing all future titles, and will be hiring three individuals to work at SEGA Europe offices to handle publishing efforts. The company states that this will allow for all markets to get video game localizations at the same time, as well as giving Europe a chance to purchase special editions of their titles, which usually are impossible to get ahold of there. This puts Atlus' and Deep Silver's publishing contract to an end, just barely a year after they'd been partnered.

It is a strong example of the growth we are experiencing as a company," Says Jacob Nahin, senior PR manager at Atlus US. "Publishing in Europe is simply the next step for us. What this means initially for fans is a parity for launch and premium editions. From a business perspective, we'll be better positioned to address the needs of each market in which we release our titles.

Nice, they have fallen down a bit in my esteem in recent years, or at least others have risen to usurp the place they once held, but more games, more better.

Good shit. Fuck Deep Silver. Hopefully my region finally gets some copies of their games for once
What? Deep Silver did a good job at releasing games in the European continent and they even bothered to make reprints. Don't be so harsh on them.

Also, Deep Silver are the ones who'll publish Shenmue 3 so love 'em or hate 'em they're always around.

Dont now, how i should feel about this since i usually buy ALL my Atlus physical games via Amazon USA since all Atlus games are usually around £10 cheaper over in US.Well in comparison to the UK prices i mean:P

Regardless, i dont now what was wrong with Deep Silver since P5 is still on my bucket list. But it must have been bad for them to actually hire new staff in order to publish their games over in Europe. Europe seems to always have the most ridiculous release dates at least when it comes to Atlus. (Gosh that SMT Final took ages!!)

But the fact that they dumped Deep Silver makes me nervous since well D.S just struck a deal with YS.net to publish Shenmue III:unsure:(i love both atlus games and Shenmue so i dont want either to have problems at launch.)

Nothing was wrong with Deep Silver. The problem is and always has been Atlus. Atlus have been through multiple publisher for EU and with the exception of NISA who somehow worked minor miracles with some releases, the releases have always been a trainwreck with the common factor being Atlus.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
