Hello,
ive tried to get homebrew on an old 2ds console version 11.5 using ntrboot , the method which includes using a dsi and a acekard 2i.
Ive literally followed the steps on 3ds.guide correctly and when I get to the step of booting into hack by pressing start + select + power + x the 2ds just displays a blue light but when I release the buttons it displays nothing on the screen and the blue light just fades out. Any help?

Make sure SafeB9SInstaller.firm is on the root of the SD card as "boot.firm"

Appricate the help however It is called boot.firm on the root of the sd card.
On my sdcard I have a folder called "3ds" another folder called "boot9strap" and a file called "boot.3dsx" and "boot.firm"

Try putting the Luma 8.1.1 boot.firm on it.

The exploit is loading because if it wasn't the light wouldn't fade out. It can't see the boot.firm

I downloaded luma 8.1.1 replaced the boot.firm with the luma one and now I put the device into sleep mode hold down the four bottons and it just turns the device on in normal mode in sleep mode

You don't have it in sleep mode then. The devices checks the hardware for sleep mode trigger, and I doubt it wouldn't comply with hardware.

You should begin with the 2DS turned off and the switch in the sleep position. Then you hold Start, Select, and X at the same time. Then press and let go of Power. Then let go of Start, Select, and X after a couple of seconds.

I have a blue 2ds and probably had to try 20-30 times before it worked. I take the flash card in and out of the slot. Also would turn on and off again and make sure turn the sleep switch off and on again. I would also take the SD card in and out. Then try again. It was finicky to get to work at best. I was using the r4i gold, so not sure if that makes a difference.

I was booting decrypt9 firm named boot.firm so should work with most firms. I was also able to boot other firms as well. I would honestly keep trying and see if you eventually get it.

[Disclaimer: newbie here]
I'm experiencing the exact same behavior with my stock 11.5 o3dsxl using an r4i gold I just bought that was flashed with ntrboot. Did you ever find a solution?

I've tried with a couple different microsd cards and the behavior is the same, so the only thing I can think of is that the flashcart is bricked.

The exploit is loading because if it wasn't the light wouldn't fade out. It can't see the boot.firm

That makes sense, if I try the boot process with the magnet in place but without the flashcart at all the light never goes out. So something in between (flashcart -> microsd -> boot.firm) flow is broken, just really hard to tell which it is.

Okay, I have to admit I am an idiot.

When 3ds.guide instructed me to copy boot.firm to my 'device' and insert the sd card back into my device I put it on the microSD card which was inserted in my r4i Gold flashcart, rather than the the microsd that goes in 3ds. Once I actually copied the needed files where they were supposed to go, everything worked without a hitch.

That's a nice one. Glad everything worked out fine.

I had trouble with my blue 2DS installing ntrboothax on R4i Gold Pro. I updated the 3DS to version 11.08.05.41E and I thought that was the problem but it wasn't. I copied the DS card content into the PC, formatted it, and put boot.firm as the first file on the card. then I transferred the rest of the files like before. I put the sleep switch into sleep mode while the system was off and pressed the button combo and it worked.
