Did you remove "_patched" from the backup? Are all the lights down on the E3 flasher before starting to flash the modded backup? Are you waiting long enough for the "Cannot start" screen appears before flashing? I always have the HDD removed during the process. Usually why something doesn't work is because an attachment is not fully seated. reseat the SD card and both ends of the flex cable. I tape up my flex cable with packaging tape to ensure that there are no tears in it.

yes i removed "_patched", all lights are down, yes i waited for "cannot start". maybe it could be the cable. but when i did started the dump process with the flasher it ran normally.

From my experience, it's always been a connection issue with the E3 flasher. When in defect, reconnect.
wait from connecting with the ps3 nor or the flasher?

Does it have something to do with the 4.81 update or e3 flasher update?

Check the connection with the ps3 NOR and also the flasher. Disconnect and reconnect. Sometimes that's all it takes.

The PS3 update shouldn't matter. I think my last downgrade was from 4.81, and I didn't have to do anything extra. E3 flasher hasn't been updated since 2012, so you should have the latest, unless you changed it. There's another E3 update you could change to that will make 3 backups contiguously, but I've never used it.

Ok so i disconnect and reconnect, and i used the coin trick on the nor, then tape on the e3. it took longer than expected. so after i was done with that i turned off my ps3 and remove the e3 flasher and clamp, then i put in my hard drive and turn it on and it loads up the normal ps3. Btw the dump was good and it was patched.

That's what you want. Now you can run the Rogero Downgrader PUP to go to 3.55. So put it on your USB and use system update from external storage.

Are you talking about the regular ps3 menu or the backup menu where it doesn't start up the regular ps3 menu?

    • Press and hold the "Power" button on the front of the PS3 until it turns on and turns right back off. This is triggering recovery mode.
  1. Release the "Power" button and hold it down again. When the PS3 beeps twice, release the "Power" button. The PS3 is in recovery mode. A recovery menu comes up.

  2. Insert a mini-USB cable into the top of a Sony PlayStation 3 controller. Connect the other end of the mini-USB cable into one of the USB ports on the PS3.

  3. Select "System Update" from the recovery menu. Select "OK" when asked if you want to install the software update file found on the USB flash drive. The 3.55 software is installed. Select "Restart System" to complete the procedure.
