The last high end 7 inch tablet was the asus memo pad me572c.

Which came out back in 2014. It was great. But unfortunately asus doesn't make it anymore. Don't know why. Today the 7 inch tablets don't seem to be as good (spec wise) as the asus memo pad from 2014. I've been searching and the closest I've found is the samsung galaxy tab A 7.0

That came out in 2016. Yet the specs aren't as good as the asus that came out 2 years prior. 1.5gb of ram isn't enough. Why they do this?

In my mind there is not much point to 7" tablets anymore as phones with around 6" screens are becoming very common and there are even phones with larger screens.

Wait till phones evolve into 7" again.
They're currently at 5.75 even to 6.5inch big.
I personally would get 8 inch tablet. I have 8.9inch one and I can grab it with my whole hand. (Not even joking)

Essentially the same reason there's no good 4" phone anymore other than the iPhone SE - manufacturers assume that demand for smaller devices is decreasing, which is not the case.

The 7 inch market became saturated to shit years ago and has never recovered due to larger phones and the fact that now most tablets worth shit realize that and instead seek a different form factor.

Yeah, I like the SE's small size, my hands are tiny and... newer phones aren't great for me because of that reason. >_<

I suspect suspect its a combination of price and an increase in the availability of components designed to be cheap in the first place.

Yeah it works great but it's the obvious Ds factor you loose from it it's not like playing atari games on atari because Nintendo actually use to give a reason to buy their hardware
