So earlier this week Bandai Namco teased us with a game teaser of “Projekt #1514” which is a game that is being developed by Dimps.

Here is the teaser for that:

However, NO one including myself expected it to be an SAO game and that is exactly what Bandai unveiled to the masses today!

Introducing Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will launch worldwide in early 2018.
Here is the Teaser for the game:

Gameplay Trailer:

Here is the source for more information:

Here is the link to Preoder the game via Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Sword-Art-Online-Fatal-Bullet-PlayStation/dp/B074WQLH4H/

And here is a short summary of what the game is about:

About

Become the hero of Gun Gale Online in the latest game of the Sword Art Online franchise in Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. Step into the versatile landscapes and environments of Gun Gale Online. Experience an original story supervised by series creator Reki Kawahara that unfolds and changes based on the players’ choices and interaction. Play as the protagonist, battle against opponents using new weapons and further customize gameplay by creating skills and abilities. Interact with characters from the Sword Art Online original novels, anime and previous games as you navigate a world that is vastly personalized and visually enhanced. As an action based RPG, gun battle plays a large role unlike previous games, with unique and realistic designs resembling something out of a sci-fi movie and numerous other weapons and fighting styles to choose from. Stunning visuals also accompany this game thanks to the power of the Unreal Engine 4, which lends realism to the textures and materials, further immersing the player into the dynamic world. Full dive into Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet.

Key Features

  • Welcome to the World of Guns: Gun Gale Online from Sword Art Online II is visually enhanced, with many landscapes to discover in an all new original story supervised by series creator, Reki Kawahara.
  • Unreal Visuals: Get lost in a lifelike world developed by Dimps with realistic and robust environments and textures made possible by Unreal Engine 4.
  • Friend or Foe: Challenge tough bosses that require friends in co-op or play against them in 4-on- 4 battles.
  • Realistic and Heroic Gun Play: plenty of one-of-a-kind and beautifully Designed weapons to choose from and unique skills to create.
  • New to Xbox One and PC: Sword Art Online is playable on Xbox One and PC for the first time in the history of the popular gaming series.

Yeah so after watching that Teaser. I am pretty darn excited to get my hands on this game. But this has got me curious as to what these new "game announcements" that will be announced at Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival 2017 event which takes place on October 1.

More information on THAT here:

Namco sure is pumping SAO games out, aren't they? I hated Hollow Fragment, and I'm totally mixed to any further entries. Chances are, it's just going to be another rehash of the first arc, because to most fans, that IS sword art online. They've already done that "Aincrad but with x difference", in Infinity/Hollow Fragment/Hollow Realization/the VR demo, because Namco sees the most sales from marketing that portion of the show/novels.

I see this series as nothing but milk. The show wasn't that great, the source content was never of good enough quality, I never paid attention to the other transmedia, and from what I hear, the games aren't anything to write home about, either. Whenever VR comes up, leave it to someone to mention SAO. It's only logical that they'd try to pump a VR game out of this game, that's all anyone's been clamoring for anyways. It's great milk, too, because when anyone thinks VR MMO, SAO is the first thing that comes to the collective mind. So milk milk milk till the udder's dry, I say.

I have the polar opposite opinion of you in regards to the series. But i respect yours. I get that some people dislike and even hate the series. But i just think of it as a great anime with a great cast and plot. I played SAO lost song and thoroughly enjoyed it since the gameplay and online battles were awesome on vita! But i have mixed views on Hallow fragment since it got repetitive and that is because you had to clear floors 50-100 of aincrad which involved the "rinse and repeat formula and nothing else.

But regarding the an SAO VRMMO. i think it would be amazing if they could recreate the original plot of SAO in vr format and make the world massive and allow thousands of players to interact and take on floors 1-100 of aincrad. Now that may seem boring but i think if Bamco invested enough into it then there is enough potential in the SAO series for it to be a success. I mean just imagine questing with a griup of 3 friends floors 1-100 of aincrad in VR. (my mind just blew imagining that!) But tbh i dont think we have enough power to actually run a game like SAO as a VRMMO and i dont think we will until at least 2025.

i just realized that perhaps VRMMOs are the evolution of modern day MMOs....

Please no. I already felt I would die if I stopped playing WoW while I was in college. The thought of being stuck in a VR headset for years would end me.

Joking aside, I enjoyed SAO, the fairy season took a bit but in the end it was ok. The FPS was a waste but it got better after that again. Looking at the past games they don't look all that great, but I never played them.

Finally someone who enjoys SAO. i can die being happy now lol

But yeah i agree MMOs are an undertaking. But the best thing about VR is that its like a handheld in some ways meaning you can pick up and play whenever you want to. I just want to experience SAO is that such a bad thing? haha

Regarding WOW. Never played it but i will get around to it before im an old man which hopefully wont be until the years 2090-3000. I have played SWOTOR and will also be start LOTRO soon. So believe me when i say i now how much of an undertaking MMOs can be. I get your point but still i want SAO VRMMO haha:ha:

Nice, I played SWOTOR for like 15 levels but I'm too old to be able to invest any time into them anymore. If you're going to try WoW, it's drastically changed from its infancy, I stopped after the Wrath of the Lich King expansion which was the
crème de la crème for me. After that they tailored it to make it easier for new players, and available to get to end game content more easily.

One MMO I've wanted to try was the DragonBall Online that was in Japan years ago. I found a group that has a private server running and is translating the game to english, so after a couple years I recently found the client download and have been giving that a go in my spare time.

this only serves as further proof that we are in the bad timeline.

if this were the good timeline, accel world would be getting games instead of sword art online.

lol was that a Steins gate reference? and yeah a season 2 of Accel world would be awesome!! But we do also need that next arc of SAO in anime form.

Likewise, I respect your opinion!
I'm still waiting for someone to release the first good VR MMO. I don't even care if it's an SAO licensed one, a VR MMO will be the killer app that finally gets me to buy a VR headset.

Since I got my Rift I have been wondering why there are no proper MMO games (i think there are 1 or 2 that are in beta ?) but than again I just can't play lot of games more than maybe 30 minutes.
I tried Pod Racer in VR and after just one round I felt like I need to puke.

I agree with you here. I think many are waiting for the day such a killer app is released. But when do you think the gaming companies will be able to build a VR compatible MMO that can hold millions of people online at once through their VR headsets. It all sounds insane if you ask me(the whole concept of it is pretty darn mind blowing). But as of 2017, i do not believe we have such technological prowess that can accomplish such a task and i dont think we will until at least 2025.

So until then i suggest we all best work on getting through our multi- platform game backlogs.

Hmm you're probably right. But when it does finally happen, I hope it's everything we've ever dreamed of lol.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.
