Gaming Mario Kart, Smash, Splatoon, ARMS.. How about an FPS/Air racing game in the same vein?

I find gliding on air on Mario Kart 8/Deluxe to be such a joyous experience yet when it ends it sort of breaks the fun because I'd just like for it to keep on going.

Sonic Racing Transformed tried to mix that into one single game but it still felt a little unpolished here and there.

Here's hoping Nintendo makes an air racing game and a first person shooter as well. Oh, I guess a Nintendo FPS is a big no-no because family comes first.

The fact splatoon exists invalidates the FPS point. You could play diddy kong racing, I guess. There's one for GBA as well (Banjo pilot?) but I don't remember if it's any good or not.

Splatoon is a TPS and not even a traditional shooter per say since you can't just have a shoot everyone like in other games. I wish Splatoon had this.

Splatoon is a third person shooter, but metroid prime is an fps
Metroid Prime is a series of its own. A Nintendo FPS would feature Nintendo's characters like Mario Kart does or brand new ones.

Splatoon is still a shooting game, which is new to Nintendo EAD (prime being third-party developed). TPS isn't so far from an FPS game but it's ultimately down to Nintendo. I'm sure they'd be willing to cash in on it if they could find a good angle.

You're right but in Splatoon it's about who covers the most ground than about kill shots. Ninty could have it both ways but decided to only go with covering ground.

Ranked also has splat zones, tower control, and rainmaker. Objective-based FPS is a thing (see TF2, Overwatch which both do tower control/payload and splat zones/koth), it doesn't always have to be TDM. That said, it could be an interesting gamemode. Again, I doubt it's for lack of trying. As soon as they find a way to spin it that will make them money I'm sure they'll be bearing down on it.

When I first saw that "4" I thought they were going to reveal Smash 4: Deluxe. :P
Anything is possible. I don't mind them porting Wii U titles for the sake of portability, though I would like to see more momentum than just that. 3D world would be great for local co-op seeing as it doesn't need both sticks. It'll be another year before we start getting into the thick of it, anyways. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a good opener as an example of the capabilities of the switch as a portable multiplayer machine.

So like...Kirby's Air Ride and Metroid Prime? We know the latter is coming to Switch, but I'd buy the former too.

Kirby Air Ride is a great example. KAR feels like a very underappreciated game that many didn't really understood how the controls were supposed to be played as even though they made an instructional video showing.
