Hacking I want to trade in my CFW 2DS at Gamestop to get a New 2DS XL, but...

How will I do the system transfer there? Don't you require the new 2DS XL to have CFW so that the transfer will be done between the original system (Normal CFW 2DS) and the new one? How will I do it?

The reason I haven't directly bought the New 2DS XL is because of the offer that my Gamestop is holding...

i'm not sure if Gamestop will accept a unit that is running CFW, but if you manage to do it, you don't need CFW to do a system transfer. Ask your local Gamestop if their internet connection is good enough to do system transfers.

You can, the source system will NOT have CFW obviously though so anything in that regard will not transfer over in a sense.

Yes, you can system transfer from a CFW 2DS to an OFW N2DSXL with no problem. If you have any illegitimate titles on your CFW 2DS (freeShop, pirated games, etc.), they will not transfer over.

Before you do the system transfer, you might want to quickly install all of the signed tickets from the roughly 40 or so pre-installed titles (i.e. tickets the belong to "legit CIA files") that have been released to date. If you do this before the system transfer, then you will be able to download these games for free from the normal eShop on the N2DSXL after the system transfer.

You can't redownload JKSM and FBI on the N2DSXL unless you install CFW on it.

To install the CFW, you need to use the DSiWare injection method. That means that you need to buy a compatible DSiware game first on your CFW 2DS then put an exploit save in the DSi NAND so it system transfers to the New2DSXL.

You will need to do all the preperation first so when you get to GameStop and do the transfer, the DSiWare game and exploit transfer with it. as long as you confirm that the exploit launches from the DSiware game on the 2DS, you can uninstall the CFW first before heading to gamestop as the CFW is only needed for getting the exploit save onto the console NAND.

As long as his hacked system has the game legitimately, he should be fine installing CFW on the new system. That's how I hacked a new 3DS i received recently after system transferring my CFW to the vanilla system.

I should have been more specific. He installs the the hacked save on his "2DS" which is then system transferred to his "2DSXL"

Depending on the employee, he should be fine. I've had many friends do transfers at the stores after telling them they plan to trade in but want to keep their info.

Just obviously stay away from the ignorant employees who just go "lol jus pop in da new Sd card no transfer necessarryyyyy"
