Super Mario Odyssey will receive an "E10+" rating by the ESRB, as confirmed by Nintendo's listing for Super Mario Odyssey on their official website. This is the first time a main-series Mario game has received a rating higher than "E".

Detailed rating information has not been published by the ESRB yet. Rating details can be expected closer to launch.

Rated M Zelda, when?

Anyway, most people are going to just ignore that rating. Even if it was rated for teens, people would buy it just the same, as if the rating never changed.

Oh, a rating. Lol I mean yeah that is a interesting note, but so is super smash bros brawl rated T 14+ And nintendo made other games with higher ratings before right?

Can we consider this mainline mario game? Cause I mean there is many mario games, which is main line? Super mario bros? You know the original 2 player game with luigi? It wasn't until some games that started being single player only like Yoshi island, and even though it has Super mario world 2 in the title, is it part of mario or yoshi series? So who consider this main line?

By main-line, I mean the ones that are pure platformers. The "Super Mario" series. That would be Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1/2, New Super Mario Bros. /2, Super Mario 3D Land/World, etc.

EDIT: Here's a list: https://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Mario_(series)#Main_games

It's the first time one of the main "Super Mario" platformers was given a rating above "E."

Related to this subject, something has always bothered me: Donkey Kong 64 is rated E and has in the intro, the DK rap which includes the word 'hell.' While Super Smash Bros Melee was rated Teen and includes a cover of the DK rap, yet the word Hell was changed to Heck... so seriously, what's the logic here? This had for years boggled my mind and I really can't find any good reasoning for this.

Because it's Nintendo, they censored their own games numerous times, like Metroid Prime 3 and changed "damn" to "darn". Same with Mega Man 7 and Breath of Fire 2, both featured the word "damn", but have gone back and edited them.

Yes, but why wasn't DK64 forced to say Heck from the start? Why was DK64 able to be rated E with the word Hell, if Hell is an E word, why censor it in a T game? Just doesn't make sense, even understanding Nintendo's logic.
