Resident Evil Revelations launches 29th August on PS4 and X1, Late 2017 for Switch

Today Capcom announced that Resident Evil Revelations will be released at the end of the month August 29th for PS4 and Xbox One, and Switch 'Late 2017'.

Now updated for current generation consoles, Resident Evil Revelations is the acclaimed survival horror title featuring series veterans Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they investigate the reportedly abandoned “Queen Zenobia” cruise ship. This new version features a smoother 1920x1080 resolution, an improved framerate, increased environmental detail and refined creature movement, defining this as the best-looking version of the game to date. All previously released downloadable content is also included in the game as unlockable rewards.

Take on hordes of enemies with a friend online in the returning Raid Mode, which includes “The Ghost Ship: Chaos,” a fresh take on the popular stage with more powerful weapons and ways for players to upgrade their arsenal, and remixed enemy placements for an added challenge. Additionally, four controller schemes based on control types from across the entire series are available in this version of the game for a more flexible experience to accommodate different playstyles.
Resident Evil Revelations launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 29th August. A Nintendo Switch release of both Resident Evil Revelations and its follow up Resident Evil Revelations 2, which features series favourites like Claire Redfield and Barry Burton as they face untold horror, will also be available in Late 2017.

What do you think about the delay of the Switch version?

I would be very interested in the Revelations 2 version on the Switch not so much the 1st because I did play that to death on the wiiu and I don't see any changes between the two. Tbh I think Capcom are playing it very safe on the Switch, it looks like they will release the two on the Nintendo Switch, probably see of things turn out and then maybe a better Resi game coming up in the future.

Again? The gaming industry is becoming like Hollywood. Rereleases and remakes. Great game. But let it live in its original form. It’s the way it was meant to be.

I cant stand Revelations, the worse Resident Evil games ever.

Why on earth would crapcom re release it again.

I dont get why the switch version takes longer, maybe they have to compress it more so they can reduce the file size and cart costs.

probably one of the best games tho to hit the switch..... shame theres no RE7.

Don't think so, considering most of it was already put in a 3DS cart, and who would complain for washed out textures if that were the case, when the game itself is just... meeeh.
They might be trolling and moving it away from the release of anything else on the Switch (not that much of a challenge anyway), because you know this thing is so much a bland re-re-re-release of a bland game that they might be scared even Mario Rabbids could take away the ten or twenty potential sales for the game.

With all the time spent porting every single Resident Evil game to everything with a screen and a few toasters, could have been spent making a new Mega Man game!
Or at least translating Monster Hunter XX :glare:

.... I hope they're not surprised if it doesn't sell as many copies as they're hoping. This is pathetic.
Capcom is being really stubborn on releasing good, new games for the Switch that PS4/XO have.

I don't understand why some people here complaint about Revelations ? I really enjoyed 2 sequels on PS3. Nice to see this port to Switch but why re-release things over to Switch ? Why can't they just make a brand new AAA games to Switch ? I am getting doubt every minutes because we don't have Switch and we won't buy it until we see more new AAA games to Switch first. Sighing.

I have played re Rev 1 and 2 on the 360, as well the first one on the 3ds, one of the greatest games of the resident evil franchise imo, I might get rerev2 just for the portability.
But eww, 60 fps, it ruins the cinematic experience /s
Apparently Nintendo pass the test for capcom with street fighter, it might be the reason of the delay of both games

I expect the delay is result of low budget development. I don't mind that games are ported but Capcom sees it as easy money without much effort. Seeing that the port isn't even "remaster quality", I expect a small team is working on this and couldn't work on the switch along with the other consoles.
Besides, resident evil on the Nvidia shield could hardly handle a playable frame rate (at times) so I bet some optimization is being put in.

"for Nintendo Switch in late 2017! At retail across North America you will find these two games as a combo pack dubbed Resident Evil Revelations Collection, which includes one cartridge with Revelations as well as a digital download voucher for Revelations 2 for $39.99. Both games will be available as individual digital downloads at $19.99 each."

that sucks i expected to have both on cartrige and not one download code ...

srs i hate freaking full games in download vouchers.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
