When it comes to movies I can list a whole bunch of alpha males. Tyler Durden, Sebastian Valmont from Cruel Intentions, James Bond and so on. In anime we have Kurosaki Ichigo, Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke, etc.

But when it comes to games my mind goes blank. Who are some alpha male game characters?

EDIT: To clarify what I was saying

To make clear as I should have done when creating this thread. I'm thinking of story focused games which revolve around alpha male main characters who actually talk. Take for example Haytham Kenway and Don Whitehorse.

Characters who don't count include:
- Bowser because he tends to be a lovable loser in the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi RPG games.
- Don Whitehorse (Tales of Vesperia) and Haytham Kenway (AC 3) because you don't see very much of them.
- Link because he's a mute.

Wesker in Resident evil 5?
Dr. Wily in Mega man?
Sigma in Mega man X?
Eggman in sonic the hedgehog?
Bowser/Koopa in Super mario?

Maybe every video game antagonist who is depicted as a male?.... or wants the role of god.... self proclaimed god?

Are you saying Qbert isn't alpha? ;O;

I'm curious, what's your definition of "alpha male", because gaming is full of alpha males. Off the top of my head: Doom Guy, Master Chief, Kratos, Duke Nukem, Solid Snake, half the roster of any fighting game, that barbarian guy from Golden Axe... there's tons.

Really not sure what you mean.

Dr. Wiley, Dr Eggman and Bowser aren't really alphas in my opinion. They're three idiots.

Being someone who grew up with Nintendo I've only very played games featuring the characters you mentioned. Half the roster of any fighting game slipped my mind. I was thinking of story focused games which feature alphas as main characters. Thinking about it a bit more Ike and Ryoma from Fire Emblem come to mind.

Can't really speak on behalf of the first two, but Bowser really is an alpha. Remember that "alpha" is more a matter of character and world perception. But the story shouldn't be about him being the protagonist (or even smart, for that matter. Just persistent). In fact, alpha's are more often than not portrayed as the villain in just about any medium.

Okay, but...surely you've HEARD about them, right? I mean...it's not like I've played halo, god of war or even metal gear solid that often to be able to recognize these characters (especially Duke Nukem...that guy is so alpha he's pretty much a parody on the very definition).

Okay...so story based games featuring alpha's as main character...I agree that here, the group is rather rare. If for no other reason that the game can't have dialogue choices. I mean...you can probably make pure "alpha male" choices in games like the walking dead, but that obviously doesn't make Lee's character an alpha male (he's just the personification of the player in that world).

Samus.

Well, not exactly male, but last week I learnt that hyena packs are dominated by an alpha female. So it deserves a mention.

What are you talking about? The title says alpha male characters, they are alpha male characters. (though I wish op could elaborate, cause now is seeming subjective to say alpha male.)
Alpha males are typically the physically dominant in a pack. One connotates alpha males with muscles and charisma, and typically instill subservience. Wily and Eggman are kinda dorks with no muscle mass who have trouble getting anyone to do anything, and Bowser is kind of a big softie. I never played Resident Evil, so I don't have opinion on Wesker, but Sigma is the only villain you mentioned who mildly fits this description. But even then, let's not forget he apparently thought it was cool to dress up as the Grim Reaper and literally got burnt for that.

if the OP wish to elaborate, again this all sounds subjective.

Thank you for clearing that up.
