So the developers behind PurifyOS have unofficially brought Xposed to AOSP, Nexus, Pixel, and OnePlus 7.x ROMs (sorry to those that don't own one of these devices, you'll have to wait for an official release). You can grab what you need from here and here (I had to rehost this because XDA removed it).
Just flash the framework with TWRP or whatever recovery you have, and install the APK.

It took a good while, but I'm glad too. I've been reluctantly using Nougat for months now because of the lack of Xposed, but it's so much better than Lollipop. Now that Xposed is available my 6P feels complete.
For me Magisk took the need to have Xposed ;-;

Also I hope you don't get the bootloop thing that has happened to some 6P ;-;

Magisk is only for implementing systemless features easily that are either unconventional, inconvenient, or unavailable through traditional means. Xposed serves a much greater purpose. It's kinda like Cheat Engine for Android.

I haven't experienced this, nor have I heard of it. Though I've been using NitrogenOS for nearly a year ever since I upgraded to Nougat and I haven't had any problems.

While you are correct on this, I don't miss Xposed that much since the stuff I used it was for hide Root(when Magisk was not a thing), and some other random stuff I don't recall their names xD

Well glad you haven't had this problem. I'm quite happy with my Moto G4 Play using LineageOS :3(probably going to change to ViperOS or RR, dunno which should I use lol)

The main uses I have from it are YouTube Adaway and YouTube Background Playback (features available in YouTube Red that I can't justify paying for). I use a few more modules as well, but they're just for added convenience.

I recommend Resurrection Remix. I used it before moving to Nitrogen and really liked it. It's a little slow during boot, but that's to be expected from a CM based ROM. For a Lollipop ROM though it's pretty nice.

xposed is dead! Fact is, it took so long to release that the devs have stepped up and have intergreate what they can into their rom customizations, this intergrations accont for probably 70% of what xposed was used for. The other 30% is served by Magisk and root alone. And the remaining 10% is hardley worth trade off; an incomplete buggy experiance that makes rom experiance less stable.

im sorry, but its dead and doesnt make sense at this stage... Yor better off just finding a dev who delivers on the customizations, youll get a morebstable experience that way.

I don't think it is dead, it is just a long process. The (bad) thing is that it takes so long that a new Android version will sooner be released. That is what you might call it dead. But in my opinion, patience is a virtue. :-)

And by the way, 70+30+10=110 %
You seem to be very sure that it is dead. (/s)

OK, now serious again. I was a bit confused by OP because it was said that Xposed was available for some devices but later, everyone was talking about ROMs. So does it depend on the device or the ROM?

For what I gather, it's device specific..

It's hardcoded for each device. If you have a chinese phone that's not LeEco brand then you can't have it on yours.

What do you think about this?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3641607

I just found my device plus ROM in this list. Will give it a try soon.

Note: Still unofficial, of course!

I haven't been rooted/Xposed since the days of my Droid RAZR HD on 4.1.2. I miss those crazy days.

So, here is the link to the UNOFFICIAL thread for those wanting to test Xposed on their device, if added in the list (see my previous, quoted post):

#noguarantee #always(nand)backup

(@BORTZ ) I would also like to know (what you had used back in the days then and) which modules / apps you would use if it was available for you right now.

Tried Xposed on my Moto G4 Play, it installed, booted up and managed to get 1 of the modules working(YouTube Adaway), the rest either never worked(No Play Games) or just never ran correctly(Lucky Patcher Xposed Module)

I uninstalled it..

YouTube Adaway is one of the main reasons I keep Xposed. Of course not many are working now since it just technically became viable on Nougat ROMs. Oh, and since the Lucky Patcher module isn't working you might want to try Freedom.

Also, sorry for the misinformation in the OP, but apparently this is available for all AOSP ROMs, so it's not entirely device specific.

True, ill just wait for Xposed to be more stable :P

    One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
